6. You know actually, I remember visiting my father...
when I was about 8 (he was an Engineer).
He was working on one of the old Phone exchanges where each phone had its own mechanical switching unit.
It looked something like this picture and was loud as hell!
CLACK..CLICK..CLACK...CLICK!..Geez..

7. Back when I was an engineer, the factory I worked at
that made car seat cushions, on one of the production lines used the old style hard-wired logic system to control the chemical mixing and pump timing, etc., for the different molds.

It was a large - maybe 20 feet wide, 8 feet high - "pegboard". Just a wall of holes, and hundreds of wires with RCA-style jacks on each end that were shoved into the peg holes to "program" that primitive SOB.

Our more "advanced" production line used industrial controllers using Ladder Logic! Woo hoo!! And this was in the late 80s.
