Man, I really love the Food Network.....
Honestly it is the only thing I can put on anymore when I turn my television on that doesn't depress me or agitate me or annoy me. As someone of the "MTV generation", that channel was always my go-to when there was nothing else on. Television wallpaper if you will. But now at 34 there is nothing that appeals to me on there. But I can always pop on the Food Network and watch any of the shows or any of the featured cooks doing their thing and even if I'm not actually going to cook any of the stuff myself it is completely relaxing to me to watch people partaking in and enjoying one of life's simpler and finer pleasures. Especially the shows that focus on ethnic or regional cooking.

1. I love it too!
I've learned a lot by watching it over the years. The most important thing I learned is to not be intimidated by cooking. Give it a whirl, and whatever happens, happens.

2. Yeah, and those Iron Chiefs Rule!
What a concept for a cooking show - a contest with the intensity of a football game

3. "Good Eats" - best show on cable?
That Alton Brown cracks me up, plus I love how he really gets into the science behind cooking.

4. Ditto...that show is great....
Even if I've never really cooked anything he's done on the show, I've used so many of his helpful, scientific hints in other dishes and just in overall kitchen/food ettiquette.

9. Alton is great!
I've tried one or two of his recipes. His pancake mix is spot-on! :9

Other favorites: 30 Minute Meals (I've tried LOTS of Rachael's stuff, and it turns out good. Plus, she is damned cute!) MOLTO MARIO, of course! ;-) and the new woman on Saturdays, Everyday Italian with Giada De Laurentiis.

Good thing I'm not hungry!

11. How does she stay so skinny?
Cooking all that baked ziti, lasagna, molten chocolate cakes. Inquiring minds want to know!

6. Love Food Network!
for all the reasons you mentioned vi5: doesn't depress me or agitate me or annoy me. I find it completely entertaining!

I won't cook have the stuff on the network. But mercy, what a recipe box to have at your disposal! And I certainly learn about other cultures and ways of living. And I do try some things I would not otherwise have known about.

Iron Chefs are completely fun! Food 911 is really good. Sara Moulton is very engaging to watch, no matter what she's cooking. I think I'd like to have lunch with her!

THe only thing that ticks me off is Racheal Ray's $40 a Day. Why? Look carefully, SHE DOESN'T TIP the waitstaff what she should. They don't get paid much and depend on tips to fill out their paychecks.

I feel the same way about Home and Garden Television.

I WANT MY DISH NETWORK!!

13. I have noticed that also
but I think that she gives the bare minimum tip, if that. When I see how much tax and tip are, then remove the tax, he tips are basically insults.

My bare minimum tip is probably around 3 - 4 dollars (even if I go in and order a 5 or 6 dollar meal. I think why so I scimp if the wait person is going to basically do the same amount of work for me if my meal comes to $4 or $15. Then from there I usually tip around 22% - 25%.

8. I love the food network
This is my favourite "go-to" channel. It's a great channel! So many great ideas and I just love learning about different kinds of food and how to prepare them!

I just love Tlyers 9-11 show. I just think he is the cutest, he can come and cook for me anytime.
