Poll question: If people ask you if you're from another country, how do you feel?
Edited on Fri May-21-04 09:18 PM by HypnoToad
(Assuming you're born and raised American...)

To tally:

8 think I'm from England.
3 think I'm from Australia.
1 thinks I'm from New Zealand.
2 think I'm from Scotland.
1 thinks I'm from Germany, but I have nary a clue as to why...

And why do I have an accent and speak with big obnoxious words? Simple: As a kid, I was tormented by so many that I grew up more with television than I did people. And what did I watch? PBS. And PBS is known for airing British programming... I picked up some of the mannerisms along the way... :D

I take that as a compliment, too.

5. It happened to me after I moved back to Minnesota
A couple of people asked where I was from. I suppose it's because I've spent about half my life in other states, but I was flabbergasted when someone asked if I was English, especially since there were several genuine English people at that particular gathering.
