Well, this day just keeps getting better and better
I vacated the house so the potential buyer could look at it. I drove around for 30 minutes, then went home 10 minutes after they were supposed to be there; not there (they showed up 45 minutes after they were supposed to arrive; thanks for the notice!). I thought, "Hey! I'll go to the Dairy Queen and get some ice cream!" At a stop sign on the way to the Dairy Queen, I was stopped behind a garbage truck which was NOT picking up garbage. The truck proceeded to back up, back up, back up and SMASH IN the front end of my car. I laid on the horn and waved my arms like a madwoman, but the driver didn't stop. There was a lot of traffic, and he got away from me. NATURALLY I didn't get his truck number or license plate number, but I got the name of the trash pickup company (which is NOT the one that normally picks up the trash in our borough).

I'm not injured, but the car sustained probably at least $1000 in damage, and we have a $500 deductible. I called the police, who took the information and said they'd call the company, but that probably won't help. I also called the trash company, and the dispatcher was of course quite defensive. "You didn't get the license plate number or truck number? How do you know it was one of our trucks?" BECAUSE I GOT THE NAME OF YOUR COMPANY AND THE PHONE NUMBER FROM THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK, STUPID!!! Then he said snottily, "So you're just now getting to a phone?" (it's two hours later). He said they had two trucks that would have been passing through town today, and if they could track down the driver he'd be fired. Now I'm worried that he'll track ME down and try to hurt me.

This is a bloody nightmare.

3. They never make it easy on you
even when you're in an accident. Bad enough you got into the accident in the first place in such a bizarre way and then they make you go throught all this B.S.

At least you're not hurt. Hope your day improves, if it can.
