Tower of Power is on their label now. Los Lonely Boys are very hot lately.

9. I heard Los Lonely Boys on mainstream radio this week.

I've seen those guys a few times. They rock.

Two new indie bands I like are Big Sam's Funky Nation and The Benjy Davis Project.

Sammie Williams plays Trombone and leads one of the funkiest young bands playing these days. Sammie has toured with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band before putting together his own band of funkateers.

Benjy Davis is undoubtedly one of the best young songwriters in music. It is tough to classify his music, but I guess it's kind of an alt rock/country with strong soul influences. Watch out for Benjy, he will be on a major label soon. He is too talented of a songwriter not to make it big.

I reported back to you about Olu Dara right? He was awesome. He is as comfortable on stage as any musician I have ever seen. He opened with "Herb Man" and then went straight into "Massamba."

19. Doing great.
Yes, you told me about Olu. I downloaded the song but couldnt play it onmy machine. It said I needed a plug-in and when I went to the Real site, it said the plug-in wasn't available. Sometimes I just hate technology.

2. I wouldn't consider Travis
either undiscovered or indie. But they are good. I've liked them ever since I got a sampler in '97 with a song of theirs on it.

4. They're fairly new to me
I've been a jazz snob until a year or two ago. Now I'm listening to just about everything--from Mogwai, to Indie rock to Ambient and Slowdive.

24. Is there any hope that she might put a date in St. Louis on her
midwest tour? We are considering going to Chicago for a long weekend when she has the three shows there.
