weird problem with my car blinker lights
They don't work. I try to do a turn signal. nothing nada.

The weird thing is that it only happens in the mornings.

In the afternoons, everything works fine.

I think it might be somehow related to heat because in the mornings when I use my car lights, the blinker lights will work after about 5 or 10 minutes.

The temperature in the mornings is in the 60's. In the afternoon, my car is baking in the 80's and 90's.

Anyone know what is up with my blinker lights?

1. Replace your flasher...
This is most likely the problem. Easy to do. You can do it yourself. And, if I am wrong, it won't have cost you much.

Want to get a can of electrical/electronic cleaner and spray the sockets of the bulbs fit in in your car.

It sounds like a short is developing and a little humidity combined with corrosion can cause some strange results.

2. Buy a new car. New car fixes everything.
Or check your fuse and bulbs. It could be loose, it could be slightly too thin to make full contact until it has heated up or settled down. It's a long shot.

That's weird. I'd be tempted to say it isn't really heat related, that the timing is a coincidence, or based on something else. That's because heat doesn't make sense for a flasher system. But strange things can happen. Maybe some connection is slightly off spec, and expands to connect when it heats up. I've seen that in computers.

Could it be related to the AC, or even the headlights? Maybe the headlights have a short, which causes them to heat up a relay somewhere, which shuts off the relay for safety. In the afternoon you don't use the lights, so the relay doesn't overheat.

No idea how to test that. Just a thought.

6. Mine sometimes don't work....
depending on how the key is put into the ignition. I've learned to check them before going anywhere and if they don't work I just wiggle the ignition switch a little in either direction to get them going again.

My 1988 Taurus Sexmobile is getting old.
