My dog just came back from the groomer
She has always done a beautiful job with all my guys, and also takes excellent care of them, with their myriad health problems, but I think she really outdid herself with my little guy.

What do you think? :D

4. Thank you! I think he's pretty special
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 05:28 PM by Rhiannon12866
He's a Brussels Griffon, a fairly rare breed of dog. When I went to license him, New York State didn't even have Brussels Griffon in their computer, so he's listed as ``other.'':grr:

The only time most people have seen a Brussels Griffon was in ``As Good As It Gets,'' with Jack Nicholson. Do you remember little Verdell who stepped over the cracks in the sidewalk?:-)

I Remember That Movie And That Dog....
I have a ShiTzu and I've always had a weakness for dogs with "faces" instead of long snouts.

You know what I mean? Nothing against other dogs... I just like the ones with big eyes that look like furry babies. That's why your guy is so adorable too.

12. Apparently the Brussels Griffon people hate that movie
It brought unwanted attention to their breed, which is rare, and they want to keep it that way. They are dreading the abuses that an increased market for these tiny dogs could cause, as it did with Dalmatians.

Shih Tzus are also adorable! Do you have a photo? My friend has a much-loved little girl, Peach, whom she found in the lobby of her condo building and the owner never came forward!

Of the six dogs I have had in my life, four have been cockers. This little guy is an anomaly for me, but I became an instant convert. I know exactly what you mean about small dogs. It's as if they are puppies forever. Whenever someone asks about my ``puppy,'' I have to tell them that he is nine!:D

25. Persian cats are beautiful
The girl who cleans my teeth has four, two cats, two kittens. She knows how I feel about animals, so she brought in pictures for me to see when I had an appointment. LOL! The kittens were so adorable!
:loveya:

If you didn't see reply #10, that is a photo of my amazing cat, Rhiannon. She was also long-haired.

5. I know. I already took his bandana off him as it got in his food
I wish you could take your cocker to my groomer. She did a beautiful job with my Barney. He had calcification of his spine and I was taking him for acupuncture to treat it. She was wonderful with him. She practically climbed in the tub with him, so she didn't strain his back.:-)

6. My little dawg joey has been wearing a plastic flower lei for 2 days now..
and is VERY proud. He's pitch black, 13 lbs, and the lei is BRIGHT yellow and looks fantastic against his shiny black coat!

He likes being dressed. I wish I was kidding. He gets a stiffy when he gets a new sweater.

8. How adorable! Do you have a photo?
I got my little guy a little coat for Christmas, but it was already too snug. I caught hell from his vet because since I adopted him he has already gained over two pounds. That's a hell of a lot for an eight-pound dog! He wasn't fond of wearing a coat, anyway.

9. Your little boy is VERY handsome!!!! But alas, photos of Joey don't
come out because he is so utterly pitch black. Ya just can't SEE any detail on the lil guy.

He's a chihuahua dachsund mix... We have 3 doggies, all adopted.

10. My perfect cat, Rhiannon, was also completely black
except for a small white patch on her chest. I was having trouble taking good photos of her, as well, until my friend, who is in animal rescue, suggested placing her against a red background. I took more of her than I can count in, on or around this red chair, but this is my favorite:

She's obviously the reason for my screen name. All of my guys have been rescue, as well, including my rare little dog. His owner had died and his adoptive home was not working out. I heard about him just in time.

I also love Dachshunds! My cousin has a little long-haired cutie named Alexandra. I hope that we can see Joey, sometime.:-)

13. I knew that Skittles was your cat
But you missed my reply, buried in such a long thread. It seems that we have this is common!:D

I am glad to know what Skittles looks like. You must love him very much and he was very lucky to have found you.:-)

My Rhiannon belonged to my uncle, who died. He had two cats and his unpleasant wife was just going to drop them at some shelter. I just couldn't stand the thought of this. I had known the other cat, Angela, because she had belonged to my aunt, who also had died. Rhiannon was my bonus cat. All anyone could tell me about ``it'' was that ``it'' was friendly. What an understatement! As soon as I opened up her carrier and she made this delicate little leap into my life, I realized my good fortune.:-)

14. My cat arranged to be found in that way as well
He was maybe 8 weeks old, wizened, with a bloody nose and mouth, ear mites, and was found on a rainy day on a rural road by a coworker. My first cat ever and I raised him like a dog.

managed to spot him! And that he found a safe and loving home with you.:-)

Photos? I love my dogs, but I think that kittens are the cutest baby animals.

18. No, I do not. I just know that she was such a lovely cat
and her personality was totally amazing. She was nearly human.:D

She had belonged to my uncle, who died. According to my cousin, she was adopted from a shelter as a kitten. He said that one of his step-sisters chose her. He said that she picked out the ``ugliest little scrap of fur in the place'' who grew up into ``the most beautiful cat with the best disposition.'' I certainly wouldn't disagree.:-)

Do you have any idea what breed she might be? When I brought her to the vet, shortly after I got her, they wrote in her records that she was a ``domestic long-hair,'' so that's what I always said she was.

Can you post Lily? I'd love to see her, anytime.:-)

It's like the icing on a cake you have to put it on.

We use to put little bows in both the boys and girls hair and the boys would be taking their paws and trying to pull them off then again some of the poodle boys left them on hmmmm I wonder about the poodle & other boy dogs that left them on.

24. I know what you mean. It's the people who expect it
The dogs don't necessarily like it. My little guy usually manages to get out of his little bandana within the first 24 hours or I remove it because he has dragged it through something. My Sheena usually ended up stepping on hers, and would pull it off.

The one thing I did like was the little jingle bells that their groomer put on her collar and his little harness when they were groomed just before Christmas. They didn't mind those and it helped me keep track of them, especially the little guy!:D

After I lost my Sheena two months ago, I attached her bell to my little guy's harness, so he'd always have something of hers with him. He misses her so.;(

Meneken and Sheena, with bells on:

23. Thank you! I thought so! And where can I find you?!
My groomer is just the best. She has done a wonderful job with all of my dogs. I also trust her with them and am certain that she knows and loves them. When I lost my beloved Barney, I called to let her know and I was on the phone with her for two hours, because she was so very upset. But she is expecting a baby, this fall, and may give it up. My scared little guy actually feels safe with her. I hate to think I will have to find another place that will do such a great job and where he will also be safe and comfortable.

Very!! My girlfriend has a dog like this, only he's black with a sort of crazed look in his eyes half the time.

But this one, this one is the sweetest little baby puppy! Thanks for sharing.

27. Thanks so much! He receives a lot of attention and admiration
wherever I take him. I always think that this is pretty amazing for a little dog that nobody wanted. Believe it or not, he is rescue and was threatened with euthanasia twice before he found his way to me.;(
