Now THIS is a NASCAR fan (2-cycle gas powered blender)

Doug Bradley starts up his 2-cycle gas-powered blender (formerly a weed eater) near his RV. The tailgate area in his spot also had a pool table.

2. 2-cycle gas-pwered Viagra machine?
Yikes!

This is from RIR (Richmond international Raceway) in HENRICO COUNTY thank you very much. They very clearly point that out (psst see most of Richmond is them black people).

Little E won and Jeff Gordon is PO'ed at Tony Stewart-could the NASCAR nation be any more perfect right now?

3. God help for knowing this, but...
...Rusty is Miller Lite. Now if I'd said Mark Martin...

Aren't we about due for another post-race beatdown? Seems like fists should be flying about now.

4. Oh yeah I get them confused all the time
Both seem to have the same result....it just takes more than one Miller Lite. :bounce:

Didn't the "fans" thorw beers at Jeff Gordon last week or the week before when he was taking his victory lap?

Aw the joy of NASCAR.

5. Yeah, I seem to remember something like that...
...I was flipping channels last night, and came across some NASCAR behind the scenes kind of show. They showed Rusty Wallace a lot. Dude has his own airplane (a Lear) and Helicopter. He must be selling a shit load of Miller.

6. They are a loyal lot
NASCAR fans are something like 74% loyal to the main sponsor of their favorite driver.

The money is staggering.

7. That's why I laugh when I see "3" or "8" stickers on a Ford.
Shouldn't an Earnhardt fan own a Chevy?

8. Yeah I love how they have to list the car by the driver
Edited on Mon May-17-04 08:20 AM by underpants
The "official" results in the Sunday paper list Chevrolet Fod and a Dodge in the top ten. First, if you are a fan don't you already know that? Second, those aren't anything like an actual Ford Chevy or Dodge.

10. A victory or high position...
Edited on Mon May-17-04 08:58 AM by Heyo
Is a victory on many levels..

It's a victory for the driver of course, and gives him championship points. It's a victory for the race team, and the team owners. (there are actually "owner points" and some owners own 3 or 4 race teams) It's a victory for the manufacturer as well. Even though the cars tend to look the same on the outside, a result of the manditory aero-packkage the cars must have, everything under the skin is Ford, Chevy, Dodge... the manufacturer has very little to do without the look of the outside of the car... it's the motor/suspension/brakes.. everything else...

And yeah, alot of those guys have helicpters, airplanes, the money made by the top drivers is astounding...

But also the amount of people and effort it takes to race Nextel Cup week after week is astounding.. the engine shops, the body shops, the wind tunnel testing, the pit crews.. all the support staff...

Petty Enterprises, or D.E.I. for example are huge corporations that employ thousands of people, specifically for the purpose of getting the cars out on SUnday, the the amount they make in return from winnings and sponsorships boggles the mind...

I wish I was one of the drivers, I would love to get paid that much doing what they do...

11. The Nextel name is going to be a boon for NASCAR too
They couldn't market to kids when it was the Winston Cup but with that out of the picture (the old school fans already miss it) they can market product, image, and the name all over the place.

12. I think the fact that Winston...
.. is cigarettes might have been part of the reason they decided to break off with them. I agree.

It's a boon for Nextel, too, because for example have you seen the Nextel phones you can get with your favorite driver's colors/number etc....

The changes to the point system make me a little nervous, but I guess I'll just have to see how I like it when it plays out.

I do like the "no racing back to the yellow" and the "Free pass" rule they started in the middle of last year..... I think that is working out well.... so they have been making some good changes... they need to do something about the races ending under caution, though....

Heyo
