I need a pen-pal

Actually, I don't need one, but my 6 1/2 year old daughter wants an e-mail pen pal not from the US. Any DUer with a similar aged child who would like to exchange e-mails with an American kid interested in learning about different cultures?

I ask DUers for two main reasons - one is that clearly the parents of a DU child would be very progressive! Second, I trust DUers and know that we can exchange verification of said daughters through other DU friends. I don't want to chance an anonymous pen-pal exchange group not knowing who they are.


Lazarus (DU moderator) can verify our good-will and the actual existence of my daughter.

I'm glad that she is interested in getting to know kids from other parts of the world - although anonymous internet friends makes a dad nervous. So, I ask my DU neighbors for verifiable contacts. Thanks!

i was thinking children of coworkers. no rush tho. we'll make sure they are good folk too. careful vetting, got it :hi:

i have a bunch of nieces. when i came back from korea, i brought backpacks with their names embroidered on them. sister-in-law quickly pulled names off and explained why you don't want names on their stuff.

that made me much more aware of what should and shouldn't happen with little ones.
