Smarty Jones won the Kentucky Derby with an outstanding performance that rainy afternoon on May 1st ...

Will he win the Preakness next ?? ...

WHO will win the Preakness Stakes ?? ..

(NOTE: I couldn't add 11. Water Cannon, Ryan Fogelsonger, 30-1 to the poll ... Just post this choice if you wish) ...

2. No idea
I don't follow horse racing that much. However, I did hear on SportsCenter that they were considering not running him at all. He's definitely running now, but what was the reason for the hesitancy to run him?

3. I think that was Imperialism
Smarty Jones has always been a definite for Pimlico, as far as I know.

But Imperialism has a sharp female trainer who did not want to run him in the Preakness, based on running style. She even said Smarty Jones looked like a lock in the Preakness. The owners talked her into running.

Imperialism is a stretch runner who will need considerable racing luck this Saturday, i.e. a suicidal front end duel between Lion Heart and Smarty Jones. But Smarty Jones is adaptable and usually settles comfortably just off the pace.

Smarty Jones' breeding does not suggest a Triple Crown winner or the ability to go the Belmont mile and a half. But he looks very capable of continuing the recent trend of winning the Derby and Preakness before flopping in New York.
