2. Along those lines...
When I was in first grade, I got off the bus and found this odd looking monkey.. I picked it up and took it home.. It was NO MONKEY.. It was a baby 3 toed sloth ...(I lived in Panama at the time, and the bus stop was right across from the jungle)..

We took it to a place called Summit Gardens...they had a mini animal preserve.. I never found out how it did.. They said they would feed it and then let it go when it was bigger..

6. Well, they use the term "wild" for a reason
As in, "Animal who will fuck your shit up because it isn't domesticated." As in, "Kinda the same as a fuckin Bengal tiger, which are beautiful, but hell no I don't want one in my face."

I've had cats my whole life. Not "wild" cats. A little crazy from the face-grabbing, but not "wild."

:)

8. I do know someone who has domesticated a wild cat
Not sure what kind, but the cat *can* be domesticated. Of course you need:

1 - Live food to feed it. They won't eat cat food
2 - A couple acres for the critter to have the run of. They get seriously depressed if kept like housecats.
3 - Kevlar gloves and body armour. Cats love to play, but they play by *their* rules, not yours, which means they could disembowel you not meaning any harm.

IN short, they do not make good housepets

14. No, you don't need to feed non-domestic cats live food
There are commercial wild-cat foods out there. Zupreem, I think, is one manufacturer.

Wild cats do need a lot of room.

Anyone experienced with big cats will tell you, you NEVER play "boxing" or "wrestling" games with them. Even as kittens, they need to be taught that humans are caretakers and social equals, and the only acceptable playthings are toys.

I think most people should not try to keep wild/exotic animals--but it isn't because the animals are intrinsically vicious; it's just that most people do not have the time nor skill level.

18. My Aunt Entertains A Bobcat
On her 850 acre farm in southeastern Kentucky.

It's a semi-pet because she discovered it in the barn when it was about to drop a litter and provided both the food and the space the Mom needed.

She dosen't try to keep it; just sets a plate out in the barn whenever Bobbi wanders by.

13. But you could have a pet Bengal or Bobcat
The mini versions of them anyways:

The Domestic Bengal Cat:

And the Pixie-Bob

Oddly enough at our adoption center, they actually had a Pixie-Bob up for adoption. It is absolutely gorgeous and if I didn't already have 2 cats I would have snatched that one up.

17. Hey Will, do you golf?
Edited on Thu May-13-04 05:58 PM by havocmom
there are bobcats and cougars seen on golf courses in Tucson from time to time. You want a real early tee time and go aheasd, knock one into the sand for giggles.

Know some groundkeepers there who had a cougar visit often during winter rain storms. Seems the sand was a good place to stay reasonably dry. They said it sure surprised the tourists.

edited cuz I am typing and trying to pull my own molar out at the same time.
