Just kidding, of course. His new album is incredible, and the live show is one of the best I've ever seen, by Todd or anybody.

really really ugly or really really hot...I can not figure out which one he is.
But I like his music.

30. Funny "Couldn't I Just Tell You" story....
Several years ago at Fry Street Fair...

(a Denton, Texas tradition every spring-- it allows everyone to show off their new body piercings and tattoos while seeing cool bands, imbibing too much alcohol, and take a break from classes for a weekend)

there was a large guy in the middle of the street playing his guitar very forcefully. He suddenly broke into a rollicking version of "CIJTY."

Delightedly I romped up to him, and we finished the song as a drunken, goofy duo. My friend had to pretend she didn't know me. We got an ovation from the passersby.

14. An I the only one who REALLY likes the 80s Utopia stuff?
I love Oblivion and POV, in addition to the older stuff. Oblivion was the first complete album of his/Utopia's that I bought (based on "Crybaby.")

I finally found a double CD copy of both of them on CD with a couple of cuts off Trivia too.

"Fix Your Gaze" is brilliant.

22. Not at all!
There's some BRILLIANT stuff on those two albums. "Crybaby" and "Play This Game" are two of the greatest pop songs of all time.

I always thought it was cool that they opened the reunion shows in '92 with "Fix Your Gaze". Way to mess with people.

42. 'Suits' and 'Swing To The Right'
My favorite Utopia albums, though 'If I Didn't Care' and 'Winston Smith' from Oblivion sometimes seem a little more pertinent than I like these days, too.

But when I want to throw some Todd on and just leave it, it's usually 'A Wizard ... A True Star!' for some reason. Occasionally, I'll also do the same with 'No World Order,' but frankly it's too wrapped up in the devolution of my first marriage to be enjoyable anymore.

The only successful thread I ever started here was one about Todd.

I love the cover for 'Liars.'

32. Boy, did I join DU at the right time
I LOVE TODD! (and Utopia, too!)

My first Todd concert (which was also my first time to try X) was in support of his "A Cappella" album. Great! Just him, a guitar, piano some back-up singers and a tape player (for his non-a-cappella songs). Blew me away.

I love him!

:headbang: :yourock: TODD!

34. One of my favorite Todd songs become more relevant every year
that passes:

I am the emperor of the highway
I wield the universal will
One might chance to overlook on my divineness
Unless I’m sitting in the imperial poupe de ville
I am the emperor of the highway
Strapped with foolish mortals such as these
I need never indicate my intentions
I can stop and go and turn just as I please
For I am the emperor of the highway

Hold!
Methinks that thou hast driven too far
I am the royal prince of foreign sports cars
Better that I should drive a wheelchair or jog
Than to be blown off by a regal road hog

I am the emperor of the highway
(where did you ever get that gas sucking pig of a car? )
This time my friend, you are outclassed
(any real man would drive a stick shift)
For my uncle is the duke of the state police
(cut me off again and I will punch your lights out)
And he will place his royal boot upon your ass
(this is my exit, we shall meet another day)

Don’t forget who’s emperor of the highway
For I am the emperor of the highway!
