Grammer Peeve: "Frasier" is not funny
I stopped watching years ago, and I'm glad it's cancelled.

1. Jane Leeves
Jane Leeves is a real hot ticket, though, but the show gives me kidney stones.

3. Well, speak for yourself because I love
it, have always loved it, and will really miss it next year. It was one of the best sitcoms ever on TV.

5. Rest assured:
Any time I post something, I AM speaking for myself. For whom did you THINK I was speaking?

4. I've always thought it was pretty stupid
I've never understood why it has gotten such high ratings.

6. What is funny on TV these days?
Edited on Thu May-13-04 11:15 AM by GumboYaYa
Aside from Jon Stewart and Bill Mahrer, I can't think of any comedy that is actually funny on a regular basis.

12. Simpsons
Just because it's not always as funny as it once was, doesn't mean it's not funny. It's still better than any other sitcom on TV.

7. "Fraser" had its moments. But it's time for the show to end.
"Fraser Crane" has been on television for over a decade, between "Cheers" and "Fraser".

Enough is enough. The character isn't THAT interesting.

10. Yep,
Twenty years total, and he is threatening to do another show with that character.

Grammer is funny as Sideshow Bob, and I hear he's funny as that rat lawyer, but everything else he's done is crap.

14. He pitched a show to NBC...
...for the "next phase" in Frasier's life.

NBC said "no thank you Kelsey."

Thank YOU, NBC.

:toast:

Looking forward to many side-splitting Sideshow Bob appearances in the years to come.

13. yes: 20 years, counting Cheers
I'll miss the show, but it was time to end it. It's been a while since I've seen a TV show that I really liked. Hmmmm. Maybe I could just start watching less TV...

25. The Washington Post (I believe)
recently had a good summary of the show.

The writer said they had about 8 basic plots that they recycled year after year, but they did so exquisitely. The writing and acting were so good that the lame plots were almost irrelevant.

17. I Don't Care If He's a Rethug
"Frasier" was, for a long time, one of the best written shows on TV.

22. It used to be funny
But it wore out its comedic welcome IMHO after season 2 and I'm glad it's done (8 years later LOL)...

23. I watched the finale last night, and realized how funny it ONCE was.
Also reminded myself why I stopped watching it. "Frasier" jumped the shark in a big way when Niles and Daphne got together.

24. It ran too long, but in prime, it had some of the best writing on TV ever
I have no idea idea why Grammer is a Republican -- with all the pain he experienced in his life -- a murdered father, a murdered sister (two seperate incidents), addiction -- you'd think he'd be a bit more sensitive to pain.

27. I had stopped...
watching it a couple of years ago. Last night, all that kept going through my mind was "It's ALL about Kelsey". NOT Frazier - Kelsey. I don't care about his politics or his addictions...but I was put off by this sensation that it was all about patting himself on the back.
Without the wonderful writers and supporting casts in both "Cheers" and "Frazier", he'd never have become so successful, imo.

26. It is hard to support characters who refuse to grow up
The characters continued to repeat the same mistakes over, and over again. It got old. The plots were stale, and the jokes were worse.

I swear I thought it had been cancelled years ago until I saw that the final episode was coming on.

Blech! Bad show.

28. It was just a formulaic, sentimental sitcom...
And I would think that if even that scenery-chewing blowhard was a fervent Democrat.
