Sirius home outside antenna.....which direction?
We are having one roof-mounted, and I thought I read it should point to the south or east.

Today I saw a site which says north or west?

Makes no sense. We do get good reception from the little attached antenna if it is outside toward the south.

Anyone know?

1. When all else fails
Read the directions. :-)

Siriously though, if its a geosynchronous satellite and you are in the northern hemisphere, I should think it should point south.

2. LOL

This map says point to the north. I am in Florida, and did read it should point south.

I am looking for the Sirius page that says point it to the South or East. That is where we are getting reception now with the portable antenna.

In fact, just tried the north west and no reception at all.

3. It should be south

It's a geosynch satellite (actually, there are three of them, I think) so it's the same deal as with DirecTV or DISH - "a clear view of the southern sky."

4. Thanks, I saw that on another set of directions.
Makes more sense. North for sure does not work.

5. You're welcome

Did the indoor antenna not work? I know when I used it indoors (on the window sill) I lost the signal 3-4 times a day (for 3-5 minute intervals), but when I placed it outside (2nd story level) it was/is fine for 24/7.

6. Not very well.
We have to open the window, take it outside and put it on a table looking south. Just inside, it does not work at all. Even outside it breaks up several times a day, even in clear weather.

We are hoping the mounted antenna will work. This gets doggoned expensive.
