Filters are pre-loaded into the player for 100 different movies including "Freaky Friday" and "Rainman." Additional "new release" filters can be downloaded from the ClearPlay Web Site for $49 per year (http://www.clearplay.com/).

According to the MovieTrack Web Site (http://www.movietrack.net/articles/news/25.html), "This filtering system works by using a set of commands that are tailored to about 500 movies. It will not be available for all films and if censorship is deemed to ruin the film it will not be applied at all. There are 14 levels of violence, nudity, sex, and profanity that the filtering system protects against by applying techniques such as muting or even the complete skipping of scenes."

If this technology can be used to keep you from seeing breasts and hearing the "f" word, REST ASSURED that it can be used to "protect" you from other things as well...MAYBE without your even knowing it.

Let's say I'm watching "Butt Pirates of the Caribbean" and I don't have time to see all the character development and plot buildup that pornos typically have. With DirtyView, all I get is raw sex.

Or I'm watching Robocop; with DirtyView, it cuts out all the interpersonal behavior between Murphy and Lewis and between Murphy and the beautiful mad scientist who built him, and just shows murder after murder.

Now that's a content-filtering DVD player I'd pay money for.
