Ad why show those pictures? They are nowhere near as news worthy as someone's voice cracking. I mean that was real news.

Americans, especially, seem to have a marked knack for becoming inured to horrific images with even moderate repetition. I'm not one to criticize the film/TV industries for violent programming, but TV shows, films, and video games have undoubtedly hardened many of us to graphic violence (or, as in most of the images released thus far, implied violence and mental warfare).

Basically, familiarity breeds contempt. And a collective short attention span makes releasde of new images more important than it should otherwise be.
