You don't know who's going to jump on you and sometimes you don't know why....Sometimes you express an opinion and someone launches into a long, condescending lecture explaining why they think you're wrong and going into a never-ending lecture that makes your eyes glaze over!....This only happens occasionally though....Most of the time it's all quite an enjoyable exchange of ideas.....:toast:

7. Posting on DU is very much like making love to a beautiful woman.....

You have to log on, making sure you have the appropriate hardware (a floppy is NOT required).....then just make sure you put your post in the right place or it might be rejected or even cut off...Of course if it's not wanted your post will be ignored, but the more your post is admired the bigger it gets....

I am getting in the habit of, if I see a thread rated "1", and if it is not by an obvious troll or flame-bait, I rate it "5" to cancel out the dick who thinks he is sticking it to someone.

All the way to the right, next to "Views", there is a column for ratings. If a thread has not been rated, or has not had at least 5 votes, it shows "--". Apparently, some people think it is cool to rate other people's threads "1", which means "Don't Bother". As near as I can tell, this was originally meant to show whether a thread is just a flame-war ,or a troll post, but some feel that it turns DU into a popularity contest.
