The HEALING/LOVING/KINDNESS POETRY Thread
it's been rather rough of late here, so anyone want to share some happy, loving, healing sentiments?

i've been having a block of late, so nothing new is coming forth yet. i hope some of you can help inspire me.

until then, here's a little something i wrote for valentine's day.

let there be love!

i have but one wish:

let there be love!

bathe my soul
in the colors of love
deep within...the heartspace
where god lives
where love begins
where love remains

where the colors await
their soulmate
bathe my soul in the colors of love

the yellow glow of love's warmth
the orange beat of love's intensity
the red brilliance of love's passion
the blue depths of love's peace
the purple radiance of love's majesty
the green aura of love's patience
the white shadow of love's pain
the black light of love's dawning

deep within...the heartspace
where god lives
where love begins
where love remains

where the colors await
their soulmate:

our souls bathed in the colors of love

i have but one wish:
let there be love!
fill our souls
with the colors
of the rainbow

1. The warmth of summertime
wakes the sleeping images
of youth
and remakes those at once old
young again
the warmth of the summer sun
takes the sleepy images
and bakes them on postcards
to be sent to our loved ones
that are remembered
in a warm section
of our
youthful
heart.
The warmth of the summer sun
brings emotion
to be channeled
all into
love

with my grandmothers...and entire clan. i was counting the other day, and i have about 40 first cousins. it's such a blessing (often mixed) to be a part of a large family.

your poem is precious, listenup...thanks.

2. here's one......
TRAPS OF VELVET CONTACT

If it wasn’t so greasy
grilled cheese would reign supreme

and if it were not so dark
my mother’s mom could recall
that one thing memories fail to retrieve

now I’m able to see
it’s my mind that’s been missing

and if it weren’t for names
there’d be a lot less things to call somebody

4. interesting...how language shapes experience
and consciousness...and perhaps limits it. one of the reasons studying other languages is a great idea. thanks for sharing this, section_43...and welcome to DU!!!!! we need more poetic souls here :D

5. Uncovered
I stood in the doorway
for the longest time
after you left
looking at the night
   listening to the night
feeling the cold
against the warmth of my body
feeling your touch
   ripening on my body

It would have been so easy
   to welcome you inside me
succumb to the rhythm
   of waves washing over me

As much as that would be
   it wouldn't be enough

I would never know
   who
   was on the other side
of your skin

6. well...i have to get to bed
so i can get up and become a teacher tomorrow...or at least submit my application.

so...here's one that is still in process. i haven't looked at this in a few years, but i think has some healing compenents. the truth is a great healer, isn't it?

it’s far too confusing and fun a time
to worry now
about the consequences...
that will come later
in the karmic process aka
“what goes around comes around”
I try to be karma...but karma
taps me on the shoulder and says,
“oh no girl, that ain’t your job...best you work on your becoming”
and this is my task...
see, I understand consequences
all too well...and I know they
won’t change just cause
you THINK you’re THE SHIT...
others thought that same thing,
but, nothing’s new under the sun, young one
so, lies still beget lies, and deceit still begets deceit,
users use, and those that get used get used up
and whine about it afterwards...
and EVERYBODY pays...
one way or another
as fate has decreed it this way
and there’s nothing that can change it,
except change...and ACCEPTING change...
happiness is a journey
today we create yesterday...and tomorrow
ergo, creating unhappiness on our journey
presupposes unhappiness as our destination...
when the thrill is long gone, and the bills become due.
see, everthing costs, and everybody pays...
and it’s not all about money
life costs, love costs, deceit costs...all of it
and it all comes due and payable
at the most inconvienent moments,
see, every action has an impact, a reaction
and it is foolish to think otherwise,
to think you can control the chain reaction reacting to a chain reaction....
action begets reaction begets action begets reaction, and so on, ad infinitum
control is merely a safe illusion for the young and the foolish...
for those who think too much, and feel too little
and don’t conisder consequences important,
when the fun is readily available and seemingly free:
ask yourself what will it cost?
and make sure your calculations include the incalcuable
while you’re forgetting about creating a cost you will pay
tomorrow that someone else is paying today...
remember karma says: what goes around comes around,
and as I said, sometimes at the most inconvienent moments.
As you become, try to do so in a way that will not haunt
you in the mirror today, nor tomorrow (and, you can)...
if not, look in the mirror and see the face that will
be in the mirror on your journey tomorrow...
see it clearly, and be done with it...
be resigned to your fate knowing what awaits you:

is of your own making.

Each by ourselves, together
Make the most of it

8. For all my virtual DU buddies
I wrote this a long time ago for some folks on a list I founded. And even though the list ended up exploding in a very nasty civil war, I still stand by the sentiments expressed herein...

Letter from a Virtual Friend

So, sitting here
Working out
What to say
From--no, I don't
Even know
How far away--
(And what could
Geography,
Distance, mean
Anyhow
Here inside
The machine)

So, choking down
Loss like a
Bitter seed,
You know as I
Do, words aren't
What you need--
And wanting to
Do more than
Language can
I hate that here
Language is
All I am--

A header, dark
Blots in a
Bluish sheen--
A text that looks
Different on
Every screen,
Weightless, a
Footfall that
Makes no noise,
A hug you
Can't feel, speech
WIthout a voice--

So what am I--
Pixils,
Light and air--
Still, if, wraith
That I am, you
Can tell I care--

Well, could we
Say this means
No one is gone--
What are we,
Or what else
Is logging on
But faith, acts
Of trust in what
We can't see;
Proof, for what
It's worth, of other
Ways to be--

That heartbeat
and pulse don't
define "survive,"
That in the flesh
Need not be how
We stay alive?

Cold comfort,
Now when you
Can only feel
The sharp sting,
The loss of
The breathing real.
So what do
I mean--well,
It's not clear--
Whatever good
It does, know--
I'm out here.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

10. OK, so it may not sound sweet and nice
but this one always makes me feel a bit better to recite to myself on a shitty day. It's got the healing thing going on, IMO:

"Shut Up"

I want to tell you
how you can just shut the fuck up
with your high-talk
and superior ways.

I don’t need to hear
you parrot words you read in books
brandishing that
affected intellect.

Someday you will see
that it’s better to say nothing
when nobody
wants to have to hear you.

Someday I’ll show you
how utterly unimportant
you’ve always been
to those of us down here.

12. Hello again I said to you
Edited on Tue Aug-19-03 11:18 PM by listenup
when I knew I was talking to me
I want to learn
to care about the shadows
within
I'm always talking to me
what a strange way to be
but
when I was younger
I wanted to learn
about the shadows
without
then I grew less fearful
of everything other
than myself
years on a shelf
nothing but shadows
I have learned
about the shadows
within and without
I
have no more fear
of the shadows
within
or the shadows
without

edit: sorry. Like everything, it just flows from my mind - not written before. Not one of my best, but let's get others involved in keeping this going.
