PS--->> Now can you see why I didn't include WGAF? It would be redlined by now. :)

7. David Gilmour is the guitarist for Pink Floyd...
He doesn't look much like the photo anymore...that is circa 1971.

He may not be young and "gorgeous" anymore, but he is still God.

4. We think they are both fantastic...
LaToya has a more classic voice and Fantasia is a slightly offbeat (different not a music reference). Fantasia is a great performer and LaToya seems a little reserved, but her voice is fantastic.

I am truly torn. But it better be those two going up against each other in the last show, because the others aren't in the same league.

note: being the mother of 3 Fantasia had me in tears on that last song she sang to her daughter and I think her decision to sing a Queen song Big Band style was great.

6. They are both stellar . . .
. . . in my opinion. And I agree with your assessment entirely. I confess, I am a huge Fantasia fan. Her performance a couple of weeks back on 'Summertime' brought me to tears. And then again tonight with her second song of the evening (I don't remember what the song was, I just know I loved it). I hope to own 'Summertime' on DVD someday.

I think LaToya has an incredible career ahead of her regardless of what happens on American Idol. Same with Fantasia. I don't think it is going to matter which one wins the competition . . . they will both be famous as a result of AI.

I do have to say I hope Fantasia wins it all . . . in a dual to the finish with LaToya.

10. I blame * - I missed the Summertime show
because of his press conference. I set it to record, but it only recorded the 1st 1/2 hour because of the cable guide ... anyway I downloaded summertime and i hope that gets released on cd because I would buy it - absolutely fantastic only wish I had seen it and not just heard it.

I think if tonight was all I would vote for LaToya however over all the shows I've seen I would say I am leaning ever so slightly toward Fantasia, but would be happy if either won.

13. Now you can see it! . . .
http://www.rickey.org/blog/2004/04/fantasia_barrin_1.html

Go to this guy's blog and download the Quicktime movie. He has it in small, medium and large. I recommend the medium (mpeg-4). It plays beautifully and besides, I wasn't able to get the large one to play the video portion. (Missing codec?)

Enjoy.

19. Fantaisa really sings from her heart
You're right about last night. She had me teared up too. So did Paula.

8. I thought you meant LaToya Jackson v. Fantasia, the movie.
Never watched American Idol; not my cup of tea. Would vote for Fantasia the movie, though, got very stoned and enjoyed it on its re-release in 1970 (yes, I am old). LaToya Jackson? Entertaining for her Psychic Hot Line, but have to go with Mickey and the brooms in Fantasia. That's my vote, and I am sticking to it.

9. I'll vote for one if there's certainly that the one voted for is executed
Otherwise, I want a "they both suck and are tainting America's collective unconscious with their fevered egos and turning is into aesthetically challenged ignoramuses whose taste is determined not from within, but from without, by corporate direction."

23. Diana DeGarmo is good . . .
. . . and I'm sure she'll have a great career as a result of her AI experience — whether she wins first place or not. I thought her performance on last weeks Gloria Estefan show was best of the evening. I think she'll probably take 3rd. I'm guessing George Huff will be voted off tonight. Either him or Jasmine Trias.

At this level of the game, they're all good.

Fantasia is my pick. I didn't like the Queen choice tonight though.

14. LaToya by a slim margin at this point . . .
but that could change with upcoming performances . . . don't count Diana out just yet, though her chances are admittedly slim . . . of course, the enlightened voters could easily vote one of them off this week as they did to Jennifer . . .

15. LaToya Baby!!!
I thought she was HOT Latin Night even though the musical performances by many of the singers that night were not that great.

I just loved her songs tonight. I voted for her about 100 times.

16. La Toya is the only AI finalist EVER who could actually sing.
Therefore, she will lose.

20. Isn't That Sad?
Despite my promise to NEVER watch American Idol... I watched the special "no-judges" episode. (So that doesn't count, right?)

LaToya was the ONLY one who actually sang (mostly) in a TRADITIONAL style where you ACTUALLY sang the right notes... instead of the "vocal gymnastics" style of singing that makes it sound like you don't actually know the tune and you're making them up as you go along.

(Yes, I know that's a run-on sentence. But that's the ONLY way to describe the Clarkson/Mariah style of singing.)
