I tilled the garden again.

It was still kind of wet. I bought 400 lbs of manure at WallyWorld for .93 a bag(40 lb bags). I will till that in tomorrow. I also got a large container of slow release nitrogen pellets and some tomato food for the spray feeder. Last year I kicked ass on tomatoes.


Hot banana peppers make some superb salsa too.


There are plenty for neighbors, co-workers and Austin area DUers.


I will go this weekend and buy the Early Girl brand to plant. I buy the plants that are already about a foot and a half tall. They are 2.99, not bad. I buy 8. You bury the entire thing except about 2 inches at the top and all of that area will make roots. Last year my plants ended up being over 5 feet tall and I had one that was 6 feet tall. I have to prop up the cages with rebar and tie the branches up with old towels I have cut into strips. This is the latest I have ever put in my vegetable garden due to all the rain we have been having here in Central Tx. The entire garden usually burns up by August here, but a very weird thing is that in the fall say like in late Oct and early Nov the rains make the garden come back. I get 2 entire crops of tomatoes. The 2nd batch tomatoes aren't as big but they do have the good homegrown taste.
