Thanks Detroit, For Making Me Remember Why I Stopped Watching Basketball
God, you are such a boring team to watch.

MY NETS, my humble, little New Jersey Nets, which have brought team basketball and unselfish play back to the NBA and given the Eastern Conference their only legit, solid team for the past two years - got smoked last night.

By a rather dull, rather poke-your-eyes-out-with-a-chicken-bone-than-watch-them-for-48-minutes Pistons team whose main strategy seems to be to hold the other team scoreless for as long as they can while accidentally putting the ball in the other team's basket.

This is not a team I want to watch any further in the playoffs. This style of basketball RUINED the league after the first Jordan retirement, when the Knicks were one of the dominant teams in the league.

Teams with sub-par talent who rely on suffocating defense to win are excruciatingly difficult to watch. Who wants to subject themselves to watching a halftime score of 37-25. I'm sure there must have been NFL games this year that had higher scores at the half.

I HATE YOU DETROIT. I HATE YOU, HATE YOU, HATE YOU.

You're RUINING the playoffs. NOBODY wants to see you. You're boring. You're dull. You have no exciting players.

You're just an annoying team that has size - that's it.

And when my Nets come back next game, we're gonna smoke YOU this time.

Nets in 5.

2. i hate that type of basketball
Make no mistake. I also hate Dallas and their all-offense, no defense style too.

I think teams have to play at both ends. But Detroit just makes the game not fun. I hate Larry Brown teams.

3. I have to admit it's fun watching your team just clamp down the other team
But if your team can't score a lick either, then it's boring. That's why when the Spurs aren't shooting well, I can't stand to watch them.

6. well yeah of course, when it's your team
Maybe I'm just spoiled because I'm a Nets fan and we're one of the more exciting teams in the league. I know not every team has a Kidd, Martin and Jefferson on it to run down the lane and get alley-oops and stuff.

Just give the fans a good show. Nobody wants to see games where both teams can't crack 80.

4. <yawn> I'm sorry - were you saying something
Nets are about as exciting as watching my cat lick himself. Maybe there is an initial 2 second thrill - but after that who really cares anymore

5. Ben Wallace is exciting
I love watching him swat the ball in the upper deck. Detroit plays amazing D, I haven't seen anything like it before. Their were times where they just shut down Miluakee and did so with New Jersey. That is exciting to watch a team just dominant, Detroit is one scary team. Go Pacers!!! F the Nets :D

14. You're pissed 'cause your team lost
If your team wins, you don't care how ugly they look doing it. Reminds me of the old Anthony Mason, Charles Oakley, X-Man Knicks. Everybody hated them because they were ugly. Or, at least, that's what they said. maybe they just hated the Knicks.

And maybe you just can't stand watching your team get its ass kicked.

16. well
Yeah, I can't stand watching my team get its ass kicked. But who can?

That's besides the point. Even if the Nets won (which they will Friday) I'd still be pissed because the Pistons are making what should be a very fun and entertaining sport - basketball - into a slow, meandering mess.

And yes, I hated the Knicks too. Both because they were ugly and because they were the Knicks.

Might as well have some fun with those Nets, since it's going to be another pointless summer for those Mets.

22. I liked the Pistons better in the 80s, when they were the Bad Boys
Laimbeer and Mahorn were my favorites, even if Laimbeer is a republican. To his credit, the party has been prevailing upon him to run for office and he has turned them down.

23. Rick Mahorn was awesome
He played for the Nets for a little while.

He and Karl Malone do something really funny when they play defense. When they're guarding someone on the blocks and the guy is backing them in, backing them in, they'll lean into them and then back off as the player tries to move into them again. Hitting nothing but air, the guy with the ball trips over his feet, falls, and Mahorn steals the ball away.

Gotta love it.
