Poll question: When you post a thread asking a question, do you return to it or respond
to questions asked of you in that thread?

I usually do as I posted to generate a conversation. If I am going to be gone and unable to respond for a while, I usually say so. Especially now with the "My Posts" feature, it is easy to manage conversations or return to inquiries generated by me.

While I know there is no hard set rule, I tend to feel negatively towards people who ask a question (especially a "leading question") to start a thread (especially in GD) and then don't return to the thread.

4. Yup. And as I've been saying for months.....
This stuff has GOT to be orchestrated. The timing is just too suspicious.

Every time a Bush-damaging story comes out, BOOM, a rash (and I do mean RASH) of "stealth" freepers come charging the DU gates. Low-level internet damage control, anyone?

Still, the fact that some DUers would accrue 1000+ posts and THEN out themselves is pathetic.

5. Or perhaps they just disagree with you?
Edited on Mon May-03-04 06:04 PM by Donkeyboy75
Don't get me wrong, I see what are obviously Freepers from time to time, but I think there is a bit too much Freeper paranoia on this board. I don't know what posts you are referring to, so don't take offense. I'm making a general comment here.

Edit: I think I finally found what you are talking about. All apologies. I give people the benefit of the doubt, but not when they bail instead of sticking around to defend their position. All apologies.

6. Usually
It seems like the right thing to do. If I don't have time to respond properly, I usually don't even start threads or I'll let people know in some way. However, most of the threads I have started in GD either end up being dupes or they go down like the Titanic. :7 But yeah, it annoys me too.

18. I first ran into this during Howard Dean Hunting Season
and it was the attacks against Dean that first brought it tomy attention

I'm pretty sure Dean wasn't the only reason they existed

8. I reply to as many people as I can.
I have a question. The other discussion group I have belonged to for years doesn't bump topics when they get a response. I have generally replied to every response I get, or as many as possible. Is that considered good board ettiquette here, or bad? Would someone think I am doing it just to keep my topic kicked? I notice it's not as common to reply to people individually here as my other board.

15. I can only speak for myself as regards that line of questions
I respond where I have a point to make or where there is something to say (including HI to a longtime poster who may post in my threads)

Even if you are just doing it to keep your topic kicked, I see no harm..I have seen people post provocative stuff that falls off then keep it kicked in order to continue the poop flinging and I have seen admin or the mods lock it once it seems established that that was the point.

Hope that is useful :D
