Poll question: DU / Harry Potter Poll
Okay, Prisoner of Azkaban isn't due in theaters for a few weeks yet, but we can still have some fun...

If the Sorting Hat was placed on your head, where do you think you'd wind up in Hogwarts?

Answer key (based on your predominant character traits):
Gryffindor - Gallantry, daring, bravery
Hufflepuff - Loyalty, diligence, stamina
Ravenclaw - Intelligence, wit, cleverness
Slytherin - Ambition, determination, resourcefulness
Too Close to Call - Even split between two or more Houses
MUGGLE!! - Undecided/Don't Care

9. LOL, mine's been done for many years
I have no problem with kids reading Harry Potter - it's very good for them. I just get frustrated that this has turned into an adult thing. America is trading in classics for watered down kiddie versions.

14. It's a family thing, SirJ
It's tough to find things everyone in the family enjoys. As a parent of young kids I endured so many horrid movies, television shows and books because that is all there was for youthful diversion.

Agreed, Harry Potter is not a "classic" in the LOTR sense of the word, but it will become to children of the 21st century what Beatrix Potter, A.A.Milne and so many more have been in the past, merely because it is so well done that by comparison it has an amazing attraction to adult audiences.

3. Of course...
Gryffindor votes are tallied with the RED bar (lucky you).

7. Why is a red bar lucky?

Or is it an inside joke?

8. love it
a message to anyone who hasn't read the books:

they are wonderful. not wonderful in a "how entertaining!" way, but wonderful in a "the very existence of these books makes the world a better place in important ways" way. and it isn't the magic that matters, it's the relationships and Harry's inner life.

(actually, I'm only really talking about books 3-5. one and two are nice, but for god's sake DON'T stop reading the series because you find the first two kinda bland. book three is one of the most important books in modern children's lit.)

personally, I truly believe that the release of book 5 last summer was a factor in America finally beginning to turn away from Bush. crazy, but I believe it.

but read LOTR too, by all means.

11. i find the harry potter books to be well written
with believeable, well developed charaters and plot line, yes i was a harry potter skeptic/basher, but then i thought to mysely, that i'm bashing something i know nothing about, and so decided to buy the first book, and i really liked it, so i bought she second, wich was as good as the first, so i bought the third, wich blew the first two away, #4 was even better than three, and i got there opening day for #5 and that slammed the other books (aswell as being well over 850 pages long)

13. I could drink Harry Potter under the table.
Unless he did a spell that gave him the tolerance of 10 men, then I would die. But you, know, normally. I could drink a 12-year-old boy under the table.

15. Hufflepuff
Overall I'm quite loyal (unless crossed), I'm extremely diligent and willing to put forth a lot effort to achieve my goals, and I'm a person with a ton of energy. Not very exciting, but it gets the job done. :)

16. Slytherin.
Everytime I do the sorting hat on the Potter site I end up in Slytherin. I can't wait for "Rise of the Mudbloods".
