1. Here's the almost-perfect response:
"It stinks!" (just a catchphrase from a really cool TV show...)

Welcome to DU, and I love :loveya: "The Critic"!! It should never have been cancelled by FOX...

I'm assuming that's where you picked up your pseudonym from! :D

Buy my book! Buy my book!

Yet another great series that slipped under the radar.

On edit: Yup, that is where I got my pseudonym

12. As of this moment I'm clueless
That will change shortly. One of my friends just gave me some Japanese lesson audiocassettes. Got a lot of learning ahead of me.

4. Hajimamashite. Dozo yoroshiku.........I chose China, not Japan....
I only know about 3 phrases in Japanese, but thought I'd drop a note with a few comments.

I had to quit my job teaching English in China because the company were massively dishonest and totally unsupportive. I had the opportunity to go to Japan or China and chose poorly. I have many friends who have taught English in Japan and they all loved it - some of them have stayed for years.

Which company are you going to work for? Whereabouts will you be?

P.

P.S.
Japanese is a lot easier to learn than Chinese!

5. De wa, betsu no shitsumon ga arimasu.
Well, then, I have a different question.

What company are you going with, and where will you be located?

I may have some useful information for you if I've been to the city where you wlil be teaching.

13. I've heard they have beer in vending machines
That's the last thing I need :)

Seriously, I want to climb Mt. Fuji, ride the bullet train, and party in Tokyo.

14. definitely go to tokyo!
i remember the tokyo tower (is it still there?). and if you plan to climb mt. fuji, you'd BETTER be in shape and NOT be a smoker.

dunno about the beer in vending machines as i was only living there when i was 5-9.

10. From what my friend
who is already over there said, you can live pretty cheaply, at least the city I'll be in. I plan on saving up enough to go see Europe after I'm finished.

15. I've always been intrigued by these...
teaching English overseas jobs. I'm assuming they must be legit.

I would like to try it someday, if only I didn't have a mortgage.
