what are some left-leaning alcohol companies?
I need good alternatives to fascists like Coors and Bacardi.

1. Try Canadian beers
except for the big ones (Molson or Labatts) since they're generioc-tasting pisswater.

I'm pretty sure most American microbrewers would be more to the left. Anchor from SF comes to mind. There are many good microbreweries in the Pacific Northwest.

For hard liquor try Vodka from Sweden or Finland. There's rum from various Caribbean countries. I've got a nice bottle of Antiguan rum at home.

3. all companies are right wing
the definition of a business is greed.
I never seen a non-profit alcohol organization.

4. Another definition of business is
Employment. and to be honest, without those jobs, we would all be broke and starving.

14. What about home brewing?
Wouldn't that be a non-profit alchohol organization?

5. I googled "Socialist Beer"
Edited on Sat May-01-04 07:09 PM by supernova
and got this:

THE MAN THAT WATERS THE WORKERS BEER

Now I'm the man, the very fat man,
That waters the workers' beer,
Yes I'm the man, the very fat man,
That waters the workers' beer,
And what do I care if it makes them
ill,
If it makes them terribly queer,
I've a car and a yacht and an
aeroplane,
And I waters the workers' beer.

(cont.)
Now when I makes the workers' beer,
I puts in strychinine,
Some methylated spirits and a drop of
paraffin,
But, since a brew so terribly strong
Might make them terribly queer,
I reaches my hand for the water tap,
And I waters the workers' beer.
Now a drop of good beer is good for a
man
Who's thirsty and tired and hot,
And I sometimes has a drop for myself
From a very special lot;
But a fat and healthy working class
Is the thing that I most fear,
So I reaches my hand for the water tap
And I waters the workers' beer.

Now ladies fair beyond compare,
And be it maid or wife,
O sometimes lend a thought for one
Who leads a wandering life,
The water rates are shockingly high,
And meths is shockingly dear,
And there isn't the profit there used
to be
In watering the workers' beer.

Apparently it's a protest song from the 30s, I'm guessing. It's on a page with a bunch of other alternative lyrics to popular songs. Note the archaic use of "queer."

6. I believe that Miller brands
are union-made. That's not necessarily a left-leaning company, but better than nothing.

7. Well North Coast Brewing Co, Ukiah Brewing Co, and Humboldt Brewing co
Are all very left,

Ukiah only uses organic malt, barley and hops
NorthCoast contributes to lefty candidates
Humboldt is a leader in hemp reform

10. Pobably best to stick with local breweries ...
which you can easily check up on yourself.

According to the "Buy American Database" Miller beer is owned by a British company ... who knew?

http://www.howtobuyamerican.com/b-db-american-union-made.shtml#Beer

If you're looking at hard alcohol, keep in mind that most of it is imported--and I doubt that the good ol' boys down at Jack Daniels are big supporters of progressive causes--and even American-made brands like Skyy Vodka may be owned by overseas companies--Skyy is owned by the Italian company that makes Campari.

12. the problem is I can't buy my own alcohol...
Edited on Sat May-01-04 08:06 PM by ButterflyBlood
and won't be able to for another 7 months, so I don't have that much control, but I can at least ask my sources to pick up the more acceptable brands. At keg parties I don't have any control at all and too many places here use that watered-down piss owned by the fascists that is Coors. :puke:
