Wendy's SUCKS!
I can't get decent service or a correctly-prepared order at any of the three Wendy's fast-food joints convenient to my house. Tonight it was cheese on our burgers when I specifically said "NO CHEESE" with each individual burger order. Oh -- and after I had ordered and paid for Frosties, the little chicky said "sh--ma'am, I'm sorry, I forgot, we're out of Frosty." :wtf: After I pay for my meal, you tell me this? The Frosty was the whole point of stopping at Wendy's!

At another Wendy's, it's nothing to wait in the drive-up line for twenty minutes. At the third, a brand-new store, they've served melted Frosty, fries when I asked for salad, cheese when I asked for no cheese, onions when I said "mayo & pickle only" . . . .

I started going inside the stores instead of driving through, on the obviously mistaken presumption that eye contact might make the difference between a properly-prepared meal and one that makes me want to throw it in the trash when I get it home. In fact, I walked in tonight. You see the result.

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

And to top it off: Armed with tonight's receipt, I went to Wendy's web site, ready to email my complaint with their handy-dandy little email form on their convenient "Contact Us" page. Know what's on their "Contact Us" page? Snail mail addresses and telephone numbers. Not even toll-free numbers!

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

12. Perhaps, but it doesn't apply here.
The food is always good. It's just the wrong food.

14. Fool me once, shame on you ...

and how many times have you been fooled ?

The fact that you keep going back for this and that you are 'pained' by it suggests some sort of masochistic tendencies.

Hey, but each to their own 'pleasure'.

4. The Wendy's down the street from where I live...
...serve "Pancake Burgers".
I say that because I swear, I think they have a steamroller in the back
room that smashes every burger they make. I went there twice and then said to hell with it.

5. Same here in florida, I stopped going to them...it's healthier anyway
to bring a sandwich to work now. Last time I ordered a small frosty it was melted too. The single with cheese was dry, and the fries are just plain gross. Yuckies is more like it.

7. One thing I like about them though
You can actually see them get your soda inside since the fountain is at the register. I always have to watch for that.

8. We've given up on Wendy's...
and all the other corporate fast food joints. We now support our local diners and burger joints.

9. Know what you mean . . .
it is difficult to order a double without cheese in the store -- impossible at the drive thru.

When I used to work at Wendy's they justifiably prided themselves on: (1) never freezing the meat; and (2) decent salad bar. Those were the good old days. I was always surprised there wasn't more of an outcry over the introduction of frozen meat. People did complain about the disappearing salad bar, tho.

11. i do have to commend wendy's for one thing
bertha v.'s experience aside, wendy's revolutionized custom order fast food.

prior to wendy's, mcdonald's prepared it THEIR way. if you wanted ANYTHING different, they pushed you aside and said, 'special orders will take a while'. i used to wait 30 minutes AFTER PLACING MY ORDER while others got their 'normal'orders filled in under a minute.

burger king advertised 'special orders don't upset us', but they were generally slow for everybody.

finally wendy's came along, advertising '256 combinations' with the single-order-scramble technique: when you step up and place your order, the entire team works on YOUR ORDER, and most importantly, none of the burgers are assembled in advance and resting under the dreaded, drying, red warming lights.

your burger is assembled by one person while someone else makes change, a third person gets your drink and a fourth person works the fries. custom orders are completed as specified almost before you can count your change!

granted, i grew up in columbus, ohio, with the original wendy's (i even went to high school with wendy thomas), and i'll acknowledge that, having spread far and wide, there are plenty of substandard franchises out there. but they revolutionized the way to serve fast food, and eventually even mcd's caved and now does things similarly.

13. so true
I remember as a kid wondering why it was so difficult to get my plain hamburger at BK when they had "Nicholas Pickle-Less" hopping all over my tv screen on his pogo stick.

We didn't get a Wendy's til much later. btw, is the original Wendy's Columbus or Dublin?

I am now a devotee of fast food Pita places where you stand there and fill your pita on a filling by filling basis. This really does seem to grow out of the Wendy's 256 combinations approach.

21. Been There And Done That
More times than I care to remember.

I've discovered that patronizing a small Bar & Grill in your area is the way to go. Eat there, let them get to know you and you can call in ahead of time for an order "to go."

Besides, it keeps the money in your local economy rather than having it transferred to yet another Corporation HQ and yet another Cayman Island account.
