In keeping with my newfound discovery and subsequent love for spoken-word poetry, I'll attempt to perform some of my own work this Sunday at the Mercury Cafe. I invite any and all who read this to join me for what promises to be a memorable night, at least for me.
but personally I can't stand slam night at the Merc.
If you were to go on a Friday night, at ten, with the round robin poetry reading hosted by Peggy, I'd be glad to shake the hand of a fellow DUer and cheer you on. But not this Friday.
To me, Friday always seemed like too much "high society" when it comes to poetry reading. My Lit teacher tried going on a Fri. to read some of his stuff and he said that he got "busted by the poetry police" because it didn't fit with the norm.
