Does anyone still call you by a childhood nickname?
My parents (and some of their neighbors) still call me by my initials. "W" "E" "B".

I think I'll stick with Will.

3. My brothers began calling me 'Julsy' when I was but a toddler
It's an unusual and shortened form of my name. Folks still call me that.

7. I never had a nickname...
but at 43, I still call my older sister by the one that I gave her when I was three. I call her Gicky. It's a long story.

9. Plenty of strangers call me "Stace"
which wasn't so much a deliberate nickname, but shorthand. (It's easier for Mom to shout one syllable than two.)

Store clerks now do it -- they think that because they see my full name on a credit card, they are suddenly familiar and are on a first-syllable basis. Grr...I am not hooked on formality in the least but that's getting a little too personal.

My actual childhood nickname was "the Nerd." It was an exceedingly accurate nickname. I think, in retrospect, this kept me from getting picked dead last for sports. Captains would rather say, "I'll take the Nerd" and be stuck with me, then just let me go to the other team by default.

I embrace my nerddom now.
