4. Umm...no.
I refrained from starting an insomniac thread tonight because last night, someone else (won't name names) accused me of ripping off their idea.

I've only been here a couple of days, and I'm always thinking DU's a bit dull, just a few posters. Then I come back the next day and my posts are on page 15 or something. WOW! What's the most popular time, say EST?

I've really got to get that fixed. But I understand medication is very expensive. Zantac just doesn't cut it anymore.

OK, Look, I'm not usually up this late, so I was just reading the threads. I'm too old to be awake, damn it! Really, sorry that you're still at work, what a bummer! But het, look at the bright side, the good weather is coming and pretty soon you'll at least have some good opportunities at recreation.

24. Ewww, that is hot for this time of the year...
looks like fishing season will come early (I consider that a good thing). I had hoped to make it 'home' this summer, but it looks like I will miss it yet once more-dammit! I won't get to see our newest gradnchild until he/she is almost a year old (Grrrrrrrr!). Daughter is due any day now, and it has been three years since I last saw Winnipeg and Lake of the Woods; I'm getting cranky. You're still in Alberta, are you not? I remember some of the pics you psted a while back, with a fly fishing outfitter's sign in the foreground. Enjoy the scenery and the fauna.

The area I was in in Alberta had Brown, Brook, Bull, Cuthroat, Rainbow, and Golden Trout and Kokanee...here I just have Kokanee, Rainbow, and Cuthrout.

I'm sorry to hear that you aren't in ALTA anymore, I thought that you were getting used to it, and actually starting to enjoy it. It has been a while since we had any real discussion, so I am a bit out of the loop. Keep in touch-feel free to PM or e-mail me anytime.

32. I would LOVE to spend more time there...
I consider myself to be a 'Pegger by proxy'. My wife was born and raised in Winnipeg, and all of her family is still there. She came to Texas to get her Master's and we met when I ended up at the same school doing my doctorate. Freaky! There are so many things in Winnipeg that I really love. I could spend weeks exploring Museum of Man and Science (if I remember the name correctly), the Forks, Lower Ft. Garry, and a thousand other places. We have gotten up to the little maritime museum in Selkirk twice with our older granddaughter, but both times, it was late in the afternoon and the B-52s were hungry and numerous, so we had to cut the viewings short. Nearby is a blast from the past for my wife. The Lord Selkirk cruise ship is 'docked' in one of sloughs off of the Red, just rusting away. It just breaks her heart, because in her younger days she worked on it (back in the days when it made regular runs up and down river). It makes her cry to look at it in its present condition.
From my previous posts, it is probably obvious that I am a fly fishing fool, and I have decided that one of these days, I WILL get to Flin Flon and test the waters there. I have heard some wonderful stories about it. I have written to the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba about positions in their departments, but nothing has surfaced yet. I am patient, but the time will rapidly draw near when I have to more actively pursue a teaching/research position (I do NOT want to get a reputation teaching at a community college- I currently supplement my income by doing exactly that, but I want a position at a four year college or university ideally). OMG, I just realized that I am rambling on and on , and I apologize. I could go on and on about Winnipeg. But, before I go, Gotta tell you that one of my real favorites is Folklarama, and I think I miss that more than any of the other summertime activities.

35. Thanks for the ramble
It sure seems like a small world with you down in Texas and me over in Hong Kong talking about all these places I know so well. I have a place on a lake there, so I don't spend to much time in Winnipeg when I'm there, but yeah, I love Folklorama too. I even worked on the Lord Selkirk for 3 weeks in my youth. Don't know what the teaching situation is at U of M or U of W, but it sure is good here in Hong Kong. Six universities, a fair turnover rate and though salaries have been cut, the pay is still excellent.
