1. it may be just me
but when I drink Jack Daniels, I seem to get wild, loud, and more energetic whereas when I drink JB, I seem to be much more mellow and laid back. It is kinda weird.

2. Now, I ain't just saying this cause I'm Canadian
I'm not a huge fan of Canadian whiskey either, it's too sweet. But, American stuff such as JD...is crap too.

3. Yes, whiskey is a wonderful thing.
Jack Daniels No. 7 86 proof and George Dickel No. 12 90 proof are my 2 favourite Tennessee whiskies. Come to that, I can't really think of any Tennessee whiskeys besides JD and Dickel.

When it comes to bourbon, I prefer either Maker's Mark or Knob Creek. And I'm kind of fond of Jim Beam Rye, too.

And make a pretty decent tipple in Ireland and Scotland, y'know...(although I am thankful for all those Scots-Irish who settled in the Kentucky and Tennessee hill country and set up distilleries, too...)

4. MMMMM...Whiskey

Very much under rated brand for a "table" Whiskey. Much smoother that JD or JB and smokier as well. Added bonus is that it is cheaper than those fashion brands.

5. Ever tried Ezra Brooks?
Eight year old, 90 proof, and I think just a shade better than Evan Williams. Cheaper than the premium bourbons, but not rotgut, either.

8. No, but I might have to now...
I love a good tip on new whiskeys. Got semi stuck on the Evans back in the day and haven't ventured very far.

11. Make sure it's the black label.
Far superior to the green label variety. Green labels seem to be reserved for second-rate rotgut, for some reason...green-label Jack and Evan Williams are swill compared to the black-label variants...that extra three to five years in the wood is worth the extra bucks.

9. First tried it in Arkansas
but get it regularly here in Florida. I sometimes have to find a store that carries it but never had a real problem with finding it.

6. I don't drink but

I was in Ireland back in October and had to get a bottle of Jameson's. This is what I got, Old Jameson Distillery Reserve

"The Old Distillery Gift Shop is the only shop in the world to stock this fantastic 12 year old Irish whiskey. This whiskey has been specially blended and bottled by Barry Walsh (Master Blender) for visitors to the Old Jameson Distillery." They put your name on the bottle and it comes in a cool case.

Don't know how good it is but guests who try it say its the best they've ever had. If you ever get the chance its a pretty cool tour. Take some euros, the whiskey is expensive.

12. Used to love single malt Scotch.
Or a good Irish whiskey.

I still say that whiskey is about the worst for you in the long run though.

Something in it does the stomach bad. Even worse than other booze.

Anyway I quit drinking a few years back.

Not an AA type of quit, I still have a beer or glass of wine now and then.

Just got sick of the hangovers, and the older I got, the longer it took to recover.

Now the green stuff on the other hand....

heh

14. View from the UK
More accurately, from Scotland, which may colour what I am going to say.

Whiskey is not Whiskey unless it is
a) Scottish or Irish
b) At least 20 years old
c) Has been strained at least twice through a haggis
d) Is drunk in a small pub where the barman knows you by the sound of your feet before you even see the door.

However, being a southern woofta (although I am coming to the end of my 4 year training to be an Honourary Scotsman 2nd Class), I do like JD and coke. And I have had a Glenfiddich and Coke once. (Writes will, sends it to lawyers)
