If you use Earthlink for your web site provider
Make sure you cancel shortly before your billing period renews.

They cancel IMMEDIATELY, they do not extend the uptime to the end of the month.

Thieves as corporate americans are, I waited 4 days before cancelling. As usual, the Hyp was hip. Upon cancellation, my old site was obliterated.

3. $20/mo for web access when another provider charged $55/yr (more...)
The money is helpful right now...

Earthlink is an AWESOME service, despite my cynicism about money (most companies won't prorate when you start and then not prorate when you end), Earthlink was HIGHLY reliable. But it had cost me way too much...

So it's nothing against Earthlink as a web host provider, their service was great.

I also lost the remaining 13 months of using my URL, but in the end that's only $10 - and I had warned people visiting my sites 3 weeks ago about the change. I might try to redirect the URL though...

2. Two hosting companies to consider:
http://dvia.com (Run by a DU'er)

http://www.dreamhost.com

I use them both and am happy as a clam with both.

4. Depending on circumstances,
I'd probably go dvia.

I used totalhostinghosting.com for my new provider...

6. Oh, I'm not saying to ditch earthlink in all things...
Their web hosting service is just a bit high in price... :-)

DSL rocks though... Much better than cable.
