1. In April? Where do you live?
I'm starting nearly 10 different varieties of heirloom 'maters from seed this spring - but here in MN I won't be able to eat the rewards of my work until late August!

Lucky you!

P.S. What kind of 'maters are they?

3. One of two items apparently
...you cannot exchange money for -- the other being, it seems, "true love". ;)

4. In Arizona....
I planted in mid-February. And I planted Early Girls because they grow faster. My neighbor has beefsteak and they aren't quite ready yet.

I also have some Sweet100 cherry tomatoes that are a bit slower. I really like yellow pear tomatoes -- my mom used loved them also. But, I didn't plant any of those this year.

And, BTW, I have a couple of green strawberries and lots of blossoms!

When you are harvesting, my will be scorched out of existence -- the 110°+ weather is too much for them.

5. Yummy...
I had a small garden last summer and this summer I am going to grow even more. You should also check out free-range chicken.

10. We have humidity!
Sort of... 10-20%. But I assure you, my tomatoes tasted just fine. In fact, they were awesome!

13. Is there any pleasure better than homegrown maters?
I think not! (Well, okay, sex - but when it's over, maters are next.)

I have opted for ten mater plants from the nursery this year. I've been hardening them for over a week now because I haven't had time to plant them yet, and one of them is already fruiting!
:bounce:

Maters on the menu soon! I have Early Girls, Better Boys, Beefmasters, and Mr. Stripey. I'm also putting in a couple rows of sweet corn, and I've already planted sweet basil, jalapenos, cilantro, spicy globe basil, greek oregano, squash, etc.

I have yet to plant the spinach and honeydews. I'm tilling manually, with a shovel, and the earth here has never been tilled so it's a chore! My neighbor, a recent arrival from Guatemala, tilled a plot 25 feet long by 15 wide with just a shovel. Amazing! Mine is much smaller. But I love it. I dote on my little babies. And soon I will eat them!!!
