Feel a need to go camping. Who wants to go?

I've got an urge to get out, sit by a fire, look at the stars, and then climb into a bag for the night. Anybody feel like joining me. Where do you want to go?

Our fave campground in the Nat. Forest up the road is open May 1. North Fork of the Nooksack River in NW Wa. Eagles galore.

I love camping! Especially the late evening hanging out by the fire, conversing quietly with good friend sharing fine cigars and some beers or scotch, listening to the wind in the pines and the hoots of the owls and the calls of the giant, man-eating wildabeast. Look! Behind you! AIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!

Sorry, had a Monty Python moment.

and the calls of the coyotes and the random ruffling around of the raccoons and the skunks and the other nocturnal animals of the forest.

Of course, I grew up camping in WI and NY, so those who grew up camping on beaches by the ocean or in places in which one needed to fear bear attacks, your mileage may vary.

My favorite camping trips now are not so much the "set up a tent* and hang out for a weekend, but the "pack it all into a canoe and stay somewhere different each night as we go down the river".

it rained all day, and into the night. 35 degree low. I've had my fill for a while.
