Sleek black BMW rag-top pulled out of a posh, contemporary Austin-stone mansion (just four blocks from the old Cheney digs). On the black back bumper was a black bumper sticker with white letters. When I pulled up behind him at the stop sign, I was surprised to see ANYBODY BUT BUSH 2004.
On a down - but expected - note, I saw 40-50 Bu$h-Cheney 2004 stickers (many of them at Snider Plaza where I ate breakfast at Kuby's this morning).
I pulled back into Dallas yesterday evening, after a brutal two-day drive (with the dogs) from the NC mountains. I started packing the house today and attending to all the fine details of a move-out. The moving van comes next Wednesday.
On Thursday, next, I will depart Dallas for good. It will be my last road-trip on that damned I-20 (with lane-closure after lane-closure, and pine tree after bloody pine tree), for a while. I'll be pulling the 5x8 cargo trailer that I bought last October for the forth and last time on the long haul. It paid for itself last trip to NC (late February) as compared to three U-Haul rentals of similar sized trailers.
Anyway, promises to be an interesting week. My 83 y-o M.M.I.L. (Mother-of-all-Mothers-In-Laws) will flying here tomorrow (from South Carolina) "to help with the move." Read that as she will be here to look closely at my shit while it is out in the open. I am furious. Some last dinners with friends have been totally screwed up. However, I'll pack her off to her 85 y-o sister in Garland come Monday night. They can come into town on Tuesday and Wednesday for the packing and loading (WTF? Why would they want to!?).
I'll post when I can. Coming up for DemoTex: Two weeks of moving hell!
