Man Tries To Slaughter Cow - Uses High Calibre Rifle - Misses - Woman Shot
<snip>

A MAN trying to slaughter a cow accidentally wounded a woman passenger in a passing car, sparking a major police alert near Caboolture yesterday afternoon.

Teams of police in bulletproof vests rushed to the Beachmere property after the Brisbane woman, 46, was shot.

A police spokesman said a man was trying to shoot a cow with a high-calibre rifle, but missed.

The bullet travelled across the Hanson St property, just north of Brisbane, through a car yard and lodged in the left thigh of the woman in a moving vehicle on Beachmere Rd 200m away.

1. I didn't know that "cow hunting season" was exciting.

WTF?! Cows just sit there, graze on grass, and go "moo". Big deal...

Hmm, I wonder what non-human animals eat cows...

<shakes head>

...but usually only if they find one already dead. Same for Grizzlies and Kodiak. Black bears too I think.

3. If the meat was going to be used at Taco Bell,
then this would be a classic edition of matcom news.

I'm not believing the line about it being a "freak accident". I'm thinking there's a story here that the idiot is too embarrassed or afraid to admit to publicly.

6. I wouldn't call myself a crack shot, but...
...I DO believe I could hit a cow. I'm guessing the guy was drunk or otherwise impaired.

7. I had that same thought
I'm also wondering if he wasn't tormenting the cow. I don't see how you could miss if you were all business and just walked up to the cow and shot it point blank. But if you just had to annoy the cow first and it was running from you...

8. You'd have to be awfully bored to want to annoy a cow on purpose.
Matter of fact, I don't think I've ever been that bored, and that's saying something!
