I used e-file. Do i mail my W2 and K-1 statement ?
I have to sign and mail form 8453-OL since it was not signed eletronically. Do I need to mail the W2 and K-1 like in the old days or the IRS has them on file?

thanx

1. my 2 cents: hang onto them

Last year I e-filed and some months later they asked for a paper copy of the return itself signed by both of us, husband and myself. the W-2s were never asked for.

this year at the end of the whole e-file rigamarole it said something like a signed paper copy would not be necessary because some part of the procedure had been an electronic signature.

i believe the feds do get copies of all that W-2 stuff. in addition, the e-file I submitted included all the details from the W-2s.

5. I'll defintely hold onto them
My W2 form was online too, all I had to do is enter a number and TurboTax got it from ADP. I assume IRS has that capability. K-1 is different, but probably they'll get it from my business filing.

3. uh, tax deadline was this past Thursday.
you were supposed to get the W-2 by Jan 31st at the latest. you need to make a big stink with your employer--and contact the IRS to work something out before they mark you down as delinquent and start adding interest and penalties.

4. I won't be penalized because
my husband was in Iraq until recently so we automatically have an extension. But I am kinda concerned about my W2... I completely forgot that I haven't received it yet. Very peculiar.
