SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (Ticker) - St. Louis Blues centre Mike Danton was arrested Friday morning and charged with participating in an alleged murder-for-hire plot.

In a statement, the FBI said Danton was apprehended in San Jose, where the Blues were eliminated Thursday night from the Western Conference quarterfinals by the Sharks.

2. Talk about having a bad night
First you're eliminated from the playoffs...

then the FBI arrests you.

Nope. Can't get any worse than that.

5. Apparently the player was trying to silence someone who knew about his
drug use.

Homosexuals do not go over big in hockey. I bet the guy was afraid he was going to be outed. See what homophobia has done?

(But fear of homophobia or not, the guy shouldn't try to kill someone.)

OK I give up. It is a rueters story. I can't get the link to work and I quit.

8. Mike Danton strikes me as...

...having been a bit of a loose cannon to begin with anyway. Before he was traded to St. Louis, he'd been suspended twice by the New Jersey Devils, once for refusing to report to the minors. And he's got an unusually high number of penalty minutes for someone who's not an enforcer.

All I can say is... it's great to be a Sharks fan!
