David Cay Johnston explains why America’s tax code is a mess. He claims that the richest people within the top 1% of the country have rigged the tax laws in their favor. Then a discussion with Arlen Schumer on the Silver Age of comic book art, from 1956 to 1970. And graphic designer Chip Kidd on Japanese comic artist Osamu Tezuka’s eight-volume work, Buddha.

David Cay Johnston began writing about taxes for the New York Times in 1995, and he’s won two Pulitzer Prizes for his investigative reporting. His new book is Perfectly Legal: The Covert Campaign to Rig Our Tax System to Benefit the Super Rich - and Cheat Everybody Else.

This is great fodder--facts and figures--for convincing any pro-bush supporter from the middle class.

DKJ makes the point that when he interviewed our legislative representatives, it is clear they do not understand the tax system. How could one even legislate fairly if the system is not understood?

He says a big problem is that the middle class is not involved in politics but the rich are.
