"Stealth Draft"
Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 07:42 PM by loudnclear
When does not being allowed out of the military after your tour is over become a "draft?"

30, 60, 90, or 120 days after your tour?

1. Its getting nastier by the day....
I just wonder how much support shrub truly has amongst the enlisted.
The officer corps I have no doubt will stand behind "their leader"
but the grunts?

We're going to need them...

2. Read the fine print...
Your first enlistment is not for just 4 years, it's for 4 years active and 4 years 'inactive reserve'. And any reservist can tell you, inactive reserves can be called up, involuntarily, with any excuse a commanding officer can think up.

Next month, I transfer to the 'Fleet Reserve' after 20 years of service... Which means that for the next 10 years, I can be called up, involuntarily, 'for the needs of the service'.

IF Bush wins re-election*, how much you want to bet that
a) He'll start a draft and
b) a lot of ex Recruit Company Commanders like myself get re-activated to train the draftees?

3. It won't be enough for his multi-front adventures.
He forgets that in the World War II movies playing in his head, we won it with ALLIES.
