American corporate executives and other wealthy people announced today their intention to divorce the middle and working classes. "We have found someone new," said a spokesman for the wealthy who asked that his name not be used. "Lower class people in India, China, Mexico, and Singapore (to name a few) just treat us a whole lot better than Americans." The wealthy are "tired of back sass from American workers" said the spokesman. "The relationship is not working; the wealthy want out."
Asked if that meant that the wealthy would no longer continue to own homes and offices in the United States, the spokesman replied. "No, the wealthy fully intend to continue living and working in the United States. The great thing about these other countries is that we can use their workers way over there while we live in security and luxury over here. We are divorcing the middle and working classes of America, not the country itself."
Reached for comment, a spokesman for the middle and working classes said, quote, "There's a spokesman for the middle and working classes? Are you talking about me? Whoa! Get out of here!"
Although the middle and working classes do not appear aware of the pending legal separation by the wealthy, the separation is proceeding nonetheless under streamlined rules designed and implemented by the Bush Administration and Republicans in Congress. "We mean to make this divorce a clean break and a fresh start for our clients," said the Republicans. "The wealthy have suffered too long. They have a right to move everything that costs them anything out of the country (taxes, labor, etc.). We wish the middle and working classes luck in the future, and we assume they will obey the restraining order to stay out of sight."
