AP kills Limbaugh/painkillers story...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A52369-2004Jan3.html

When Michael Jackson was sought by police late last year, the mainstream media could have cared less whether he had actually been charged with a crime yet - they had a field day anyway. Same with Martha Stewart (another liberal). But check out this accidentally leaked 'kill order" from AP on a story about Rush Limbaugh! "Please kill the story Limbaugh-Painkillers, V9991. Rush Limbaugh has not been charged with doctor shopping. A kill is MANDATORY. Make sure the story is not used." Also, notice how Limbaugh, who took up to a thousand illegally-obtained narcotic pills per month, is always described as "taking painkillers" - he is never referred to by the mainstream media as what he is: a JUNKIE or NARCOTICS ADDICT. "AP" stands for American Propaganda.

1. oh, that's just great...
now with the Moonies owning UPI, and AP is in protect-the-status-quo mode, we are running out of free-ish press QUICKLY!

things are looking so bad that even my usual pessimism is too optimistic!

2. Yes, AP is one of the most thoroughly corrupted "news" organizations
I suspect that the Busheviks targeted it for infiltration and parasitization early on, since it provides so much of Amerika's "news", particularly small-town Amerika. It is no coincidence that 2004 "exit polling" (after it's convenient absence in 2002) is reappearing under the AP aegis. All the better to issue "kill orders" on any "exit polling" data that doesn't confrom to State Pravda.

Of course this "kill order" shows a grotesquely Orwellian double-standard, compared to Michael Jackson or ANYBODY accused of a crime in the past 20 years, including Richard Jewell of the Atlanta Olympics Bombing.

Buit of course, it is what one would expect. Every day Imperial Amerika becomes more grotesquely Orwellian, protecting Imperial Family and their henchpersons at all costs.

Not that it would ever happen, but trace this Kill Order to it's highest source, and I guarantee you'd find an Imperial Agent who as been masquerading as a "journalist/editor" for years, IMHO.

This was already spotted at the time by a vigilant DUer, and thoroughly checked out. It was an error correction, IIRC, nothing more sinister than that.

I'll search the archives in a little bit.

(On edit): Here's the DU thread. Post #37.

While I agree with everyone else...that AP and the rest of the majority of print media is lying dog shit (with very few exceptions, save a Krugman here and there.) the rest are right-wing puppets, republican-owned and controled!!!

Sorry, my anger is so focused on these spinless fucking, kiss ass, don't rock the Bush boat (or Rove might get mad and get me, democrats.) I can hardly see anything else!!!!!

You know of whom I speak of course...those little DLC shits...who attack the leading democrat at the moment, instead of aming the attacks where they absolutely belong...at Bush and the republican fascist in power...fuck the fucking democrat moderates, I despise them all!!!

I'm a Kucinich man myself, through and through...BUT I still can never forgive these clumsy, bumbling, selfish democrats that attack ANY democrat front runner. This is bullshit and unforgivable.

8. Thanks for the heads up - The AP calling Dems liars had me going - and
this put me over the edge. But all is well re Rush story now.

So I am back to just being angry about the AP using a Dems lie spin to write up the Iowa debate, pretending buanced answered are hard to understand and therefore lies (cause "head scatching") - granted they did print the Dems point eventually - buried deep in the article.

But I do like right wing spin at AP. not.

:-(
