Bush to help illegal alians get jobs! Just on CNN
He's going to change their status to legal and do everything he can to get them good jobs. I guess the rest of us are stuck. After 9 months of unemployment last year, I get laid off at the end of the month. I get more pissed-off every day.

4. My guess would be
it is a Bush scheme to get EVERYONE to accept lower wages for their labor. Driving a wedge in the working classes, between those with citizenship and those without. Everyone should have a job at a livable wage, not the peanuts he wants to force us ALL to work for.

I doubt it's the way you say it is. But one thing for sure, whatever Bush is doing is empty.

11. Er,
I heard it's @ least 10 mil. unemployed in the US. But trust Geo. W. Hoover to completely ignore the unemployment problem just like his dad, which will ensure that he'll get fired, just like his dad.

8. He isn't helping them to get GOOD jobs...
...he is helping them to be legal and do the jobs that Americans don't want to do.

President Bush is said to be preparing a list of principles for overhauling the nation's unworkable immigration policy. That is an excellent way to begin the new year - Washington has not made any serious attempt at reform since the Reagan administration. But a presidential wish list announced during a campaign season is not enough. The president has to convince some of his fellow Republicans in Congress that the system isn't working. American officials cannot keep pretending that 8 million to 10 million illegal immigrants do not exist.

<snip>

It would create a Web site where employers could advertise jobs, and legal American workers would have the first shot at them. Then the jobs would be open to people trying to immigrate and to illegal immigrants already in the country.

12. I support this if it is true.
Its not the Mexicans coming here who are causing our lack of jobs.

It is the fact that we are sending our industrial jobs to other nations and the importation of European and Asian workers for our tech industry that are causing our problems.

As for the tightening of our borders, its a pipe dream, and it will fail if we try it alone. We need to open our boarders with Mexico and Canada more, but we need to work with Mexico and Canada to make sure they tighten thier borders and inspect the people coming into thier nations aswell.

I think it would definately be alot easier to control the border down in the Yucitan than along the US/Mexican border.

border controls mainly effect the regular people, while the wealthy/monied generally get fast lane-ed....and obviously terrists are gonna go 1st class, if that ensures success....

15. All this carping about 'Illegal immigrants' is sad. They aren't the reason
Americans can't find good jobs.

It's amazing to me how the inhabitants of this land we call America -a country obtained and founded through force and deception by an immigrant, Anglo/Saxon pack of misogynist thugs - can assert their nationalism and detach themselves from the global influences that were essential, critical elements in the establishment of our nation and in the sustaining the people who settled here.

The Europeans were immigrants to this land. The original inhabitants comprised a vast nation of many languages and many different cultures that existed together for centuries.

Immigrants and their children raise the incomes of American workers by $10 billion each year. Immigrants pay $80,000 more in taxes than they receive in total benefits over their lifetimes.

More than 60,000 active military personnel are immigrants. Immigrants account for five percent or more of active duty enlisted personnel in some branches of the military.

Leave 'em alone, why don't cha?

17. So when an illegal immigrant
fills up their tank with gasoline, they don't pay gas tax?
When they purchase a TV, they don't pay sales tax?
When they pay rent or a mortgage, they don't pay property tax?

Income tax is not the only tax.

If you want to stop illegal immigration, put employers in jail, not punish illegals. No jobs, no illegals.

is to import cheap labor, even if it's illegal.

well it seems this administration thinks so.
