1. Well, in all fairness

we'll also see him break the world record he set the last time for
"most photos taken with cute little Black kids"

God I'd hate to be one of his handlers! Having to worry about little details as "is that idiot at least holding the book right side up?"

8. Looks like he's off to a good start

President Bush spends time with fourth graders, Khadijah McCain, left, Damien Goolsby, center right, and Darlet Horton, right, at the Pierre Laclede elementary school, Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, in St. Louis. The president is celebrating the two year anniversary of the 'No Child Left Behind Act'.

9. What's worth celebrating? He won't even give it any budget money
Last I heard, he was taking funds out of it, in part to pay for the tax cuts to the mega-wealthy and corporations. (yo, next Democratic President, cut all corporate welfare PERMANENTLY!)

2. Call them on it
They'll keep doing it for exactly one reason: They think it's what people what and what, therefore, will bring them the most profits.

Call them on it. Call their editor-in-chief or executive editor; their number is in the paper. Politely tell them that you're counting on them to be unbiased during this most important year for our country -- and that your continued support of the paper is dependent upon them doing just that.

Executive editors are often driven into fear and panic by phone calls, since so few people take the trouble.

7. South Carolina is in major denial: "Bo-Jo-ism."
I watch WYFF-TV news from Greenville every night up here at Dalat, my mountain home. The BoJos have a grip on this region. One of my brother-in-laws is a BoJo Rev and his 14 year-old daughter, fresh from years of home-schooling, is in the Bo-Jo Junior Academy.

She and her 12 y-o brother spent the weekend with us between Christmas and New Years. Great kids. We hiked a tough gorge with them. My wife taught Jr. how to open and properly pour wine. We might be in deep-shit with the Rev. over that! But they are good, inquisitive kids who love spending time with Aunt and Uncle DemoTex (Dad does know our political stance).

Meanwhile, the local jingoism started ref: Capt. Kimberly Hampton. I will not go there. Her death grieves me like nothing since Vietnam, and I fully expect the political opportunism in South Carolina.
