Bring them on.

I will never forgive him for saying those words.

2. Democrats need to use these historic blunders....
... far more often in the campaign. It identifies who the real enemy is. I support Clark, my nephew supports Dean, my son supports Sharpton, etc. But come election time, we know who is the real enemy of democracy. Let's see the infamous photo of Donald Rummy grinning and shaking hands with that old devil, Saddam. These are powerful images that our side needs to keep highly visible. Bring 'em on!!!

4. Those words are a slap in the face
to all combat veterans. If Chimp had gone to 'Nam he wouldn't be strutting around with his false bravado, imho.

10. He would never have survived combat...
but I'm sure that the asshole would have been far to the rear anyway.

If he would have been in the Army, a mechanic wouldn't even let him carry his tools!

9. Then there's this one:
"I'm the commander... see, I don't need to explain. I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being the president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation." --Woodward's BUSH AT WAR

and this…

"Bush's ego seems to be growing much faster than the economy. Notice that he more and more uses the personal pronoun - "I" am sick and tired, he says, and "I" have no desire to watch the rerun of an old movie. This is an emperor talking, not the president of a republic. The relationship between two sovereign nations is not a matter of personalities. Bush's personal feelings and prejudices are not the basis on which U.S. government policy should be formulated. Bush doesn't seem to take criticism very well, and he tends to resort to name-calling when world leaders disagree with him, as if mere disagreement were a mortal sin…

11. He is convinced that God put him in the WH...
and he will answer to none other than God himself; that is until he proclaims himself a "Living God", like the Emperors of Rome.

It never occurred to him, that if God had decided to interfere, instead of a bunch of thugs from the GOP and SCotUS, it would have been a FAIR election!

I would suppose god will tire of this soon, and hand him his knotty little head.

14. Come on
He was only saying something that Gen. George Patton said in Europe. Approximate quote:

"I like it when the enemy shoots at me. Then I know where he is and I can kill him."

That's the way war works. Just because we're Lefties doesn't mean we can't recognize that.

Bush isn't a general, out in the field, sharing the horrors of battle with the troops

I recognize plenty, not sure why being "leftist" has anything to do with that

25. And like Patton, Bush doesn't give a shit about veterans.
Patton, I'm sure you'll remember, mowed down a number of veterans expressing their constitutional rights at the Benefits March massacre.

So yes, they both have a lot it common. They'll both have a bunch of troops killed for no reason than to make themselves look better.

32. Are you referring to the expulsion of the Bonus Marchers?
While not really qualifying as a massacre (only one person was killed in the mayhem), it was nevertheless a reprehensible act on the part of the Hoover administration to run down-on-their-luck verterans out of town on a rail, after the service they had given their country. Among the people who forced out the Bonus Marchers were Douglas MacArthur (the commander), Dwight Eisenhower, and George Patton.

27. Excuse me, but Patton had guts...
bush never faced an enemy.

He's had others face enemies for him his entire life; but bush never had to face an enemy that could kill him.

He is a cowardly little spoiled brat, that is less than gnat crap as far as I'm concerned.

I have stood at many a ceremony, and over many a grave to hear Taps playing in the distance. bush cannot find either the time or the fortitude to do that. He can send others off to fight and die, but he will not stand there and take fire himself.

He is a coward, always has been, always will be.

BTW: welcome to DU :hi:

17. Some people eat that up

This is the NEW masculinity--all biblically, patriarchally mandated! The OLD was the compassionate, loving and gentle father, who wheeled a baby carriage and changed diapers-who wanted nothing but peace with his family-the NEW male is the tough talking, strutting cowboy wearing six shooters on each hip, like Bush--all smoke , no fire, jutting chin like Mussolini, and who breaks down saloon doors in search of someone, anyone, to shoot up.

believe he said that, and I have an even harder time at the total lack of outrage from my fellow citizens over such an arrogant, ignorant, cowboy-movie-wannabe statement, especially coming from someone who doesn't have to deal with the "bringing on" and who's never spent one single fucking day in any kind of real service and combat.
