There is Hope! - Reader reviews of Perle and Frum's new book
Went to Amazon to check out "An End to Evil: Strategies For Victory in the War on Terror" by Richard Perle and David Frum.

Wow! 18 reader reviews and all but 2 were on the money. Many displayed an excellent understanding of the neocon agenda and the threat to freedom it poses.

Here is one example:

Every American should read this book. It is the ultimate insight on the xenophobic, paranoid psychosis that fuels contemporary foreign and domestic policy. These two have the ear of the President of the United States and that is a scary thing.

I am a practicing California lawyer and columinst with plenty of experience with U.S. immigration law and constitutional litigation. I must report that much of what is stated as present "law" and policy in this book is simply wrong. Further, where the law is correctly stated, it is exaggerated in context. Disturbingly, where Frum draws reference to several terrorists slipping through immigration enforcement, his proposed remedy is the populace's submission to a national identification card featuring "biometric data" "like . . . DNA." (See pages 69 - 70.)

Based on my experience practicing in the California state and federal courts, I devoutly believe the United States Constitution is on its deathbed. Even before the false garbage printed in this "hit piece," there is tremendous pressure to deny constitutional rights and protections. I am sure that, should another terrorist attack occur, the changes to the U.S. government with be unprecedented.

Given the blatant misrepresentations and exaggerations contained in this book, it leads me to believe that the aim is something other than educating the reader. The book is designed to strike fear and doubt into its readers. Given the credentials of these two, people will unfortunately accept the content of the book without question. There is no question that the eventual aim of Frum and, especially, Perle lies in establishing a quasi-authoritarian state. This book is obviously part of that agenda.

As mentioned above, don't read this book for what it says. Read this book for the sake of whom is saying it. In my opinion, these people have gone over the edge - but they're still in charge.

There is hope..there is hope.

1. "An End to Evil"
Personally, I think that is a scary title for a book. What is evil? And who determines what evil is?

6. title should be: "Evil, an End or a Means?"
obviously, these freaks are using the WOE/WOT to justify all the depredations committed against the constitution, truth, justice, and the american way, ahem

and, to anyone who EVER believes a word these people say.......wake up

wise up

speaking of which, I spoke with paid liar Frum on the radio once, when he was pushing his ludicrous Bush hagio a few months back.

he waxed endlessly how, despite dumbo's incuriousity, lack of attention span, abruptness w/"advisers", he was a bold and brave leader, decisive, and firm in his resolve

I told him that anyone who believed he decided on matters more important than what color his socks would be should have his head examined.

I said that anyone who'd care to read a more realistic insight into B*'s "character" should read the Bush Dyslexicon, by Mark C. Miller, in which he's portrayed as a mean-spirited, intellectually lazy (NOT stupid) person, among other things.......they cut me off at that point.

after which Frum completely mischaracterized Miller's book, saying it just made fun of dopey's stupidity, lack of intellectual ability, etc., which he said was wrong.

of course the major thesis of Miller's book is EXACTLY the opposite: that, while * is, indeed, a lazy, ignorant slob (my words), he is NOT stupid, just inarticulate when it comes to expressing himself on topics a normally adjsted person would be able to address, becoming articulate only when addressing ideas like smoking out OBL, making him pay the ultimate penalty, meting out swift/harsh judgments, etc.
that's when his true character is revealed.

course, the host, not having any familiarity with Miller's book, didn't have the wherewithal/bother to call him on this huge lie.

BTW, Miller has a new book out:

2. I just hope their arrogance
will do them in sooner rather than later.

So far, everything these guys have proposed, all of their strategies and solutions have been totally wrong. Why do Sharon's handmaids still have a shred of credibility left? Even worse, why are they still in charge of American foreign policy?

Tell you what. I've got a way to End Evil and a Strategy For Victory in the War on Terror. Put Perle and Frum and the rest of them in jail for a long, long time.

3. I agree, to a point, OhMyGod. However,...
...the quote you referenced is obviously from a well informed, erudite individual, not easily influenced by the plethora of far-right propaganda circulating through the 'media' today - a FAR cry, I'm afraid, from the average livestock who will read this tripe and give their mewling approval to its fascist non-logic.

Sorry. I'm just very concerned that the level of sophistication in this country has dropped in direct correlation to the level of competence and sanity displayed by the current administration.

5. Did you read all of the reviews?
Even the unsophisticated seemed to think the book was a crock of *hit. I was encouraged to find these opinions voiced on Amazon, a totally politically neutral site.

8. Reminds me of the film "An end to violence"
The end to violence is a society totally unfree and constantly surveilled by cameras and no privacy.

Wim Wenders. Awesome film.

The concept of and end to evil is just the same: No Freedom, no violence. Bullshit! Asinine and mentally ill.

Eugenicists are the weak-minded.

9. It's ironic
The same people who publish books like "Why the Left Hates America : Exposing the Lies That Have Obscured Our Nation's Greatness" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/076156375X/ref=cm_custrec_gl_acc/104-4001760-0027953?v=glance&s=books are the ones who hate 1/2 of America, and want to change everything about our country, starting with the constitution.

From hatred of "crack whores" to hatred of Democrats, the right wing has adopted an agenda of hate.

They don't win because they have a better ideas than what has worked for 200 years, they win by villifying the opposition.

My country has never been more polarized, and it wasn't the terrorists that drew the line in the sand. This line was drawn in 1992, when Clinton was elected President and for 8 years denied PNAC the war that they so badly wanted.

I can't help but wonder, should Bush be re-elected in 2004, if the constitution that our country is based on will survive.

War has been declared, and at the moment America is losing. There IS a "vast right wing conspiracy". From PNAC/AEI to the Federalist Society to Heritage to Scaife to Norquist to Rove to Falwell to...opposition to the vision of an America where people matter more than money is organized and well-funded. Without organizations like DU, we would have already lost.

Consider this a call to mobilization. Help any way that you can. Send a check, volunteer your time, go door to door in your neighborhood and get out the vote. Do whatever you have to do to stop this movement of hate.

10. Great post - to add to it =
Edited on Sat Jan-03-04 11:51 AM by higher class
they hate 1/2 of America and 100% of the world except Israel.

Historians will wonder why the American people fell for this just like they've wondered and written about the Germans submitting to Hitler.

You have to wonder if their three apparent goals are equal in value - control of the people, control of the earth resources, the expansion and survival of Israel even if it includes hate and blood.

Another quetion to ponder is why so many American Christians joined Jews in the affairs of Israel. And along the way developed a form of refined Nazism and Communism culminating in imperialism.

I'm for all religions. I can only support political Israel if they want to pursue peace with Palestinians and allow each other to live like human beings and eliminate the need to groom suicide bombers and build stealth weapons on both sides. I can only support political Israel if they don't play us - manipulate us and if their American supporters in leadership roles don't manipulate us. They need to do whatever is necessary to allow Jerusalem to exist for people of all religions who hold it dear. Israel needs to develop support and backing for their existence through peace not domination, not sublimation, not insult.

To me, Perle and his partners equal PNAC. And to me, PNAC equals the Israel arm of the coalition to control. That's the only thing I've been able to figure out.

Thanks to knowledgeable people who are speaking up.
