Three Cheers for Willie Nelson, Yahoo & Reuters Writers.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=638&ncid=762&e=4&u=/nm/20040101/en_nm/iraq_nelson_dc

Yahoo has the story on their front page, Willie gets the anti-Invasion word out (Plus gets DK a mention), and the staff writers end the article with a short/sweet sentence...

"Bush ordered the invasion of Iraq in March saying that Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) threatened U.S. security by possessing weapons of mass destruction, but no such weapons were found."

Thank you Willie Nelson! Thank you Yahoo! Thank you nameless Reuters writer/s!

4. Thanks For That Suggestion!
I read this this morning, it's great, but I didn't even think of rating it. I don't think I even notice that rating thing! But I did go back and do that. I do appreciate the coverage!!

8. at least a few different news sites have ratings systems,
as well as links to email or print. I always rate and email anything I feel is an important article, because on some sites, highest rated articles stay kicked to the main page. I often just email it to my secondary addy just so their tracker will show that article was sent.

9. Good for Willie, but
I wouldn't give the writers too much credit. They're just fanning the flames. It'll be interesting to see which way the bandwagon goes on this one.

11. my favorite quote from CBSnews.com
Asked if the song might anger conservative country music fans, he said, "I sure hope so. I don't care if people say, 'Who the hell does he think he is?' I know who I am."

Willie kicks ass.

23. Great quote. I hope it flips them out too. Hell maybe Toby Keith...
...will have someone write a three word song for him to sing denouncing Willie.

24. I contacted both local country stations
here in this republican stronghold to let them know he's releasing it, and to request it. I don't know if they'll play it; Willie performed locally last year to rave reviews, but this town won't take a slam at GWB sitting down. Ought to be interesting. Since I don't listen to much radio, and never country music, I won't know if they actually play it or not.

Radio stations all over the country need to get daily requests from this song all the way through November to remind people why we're evicting GWB.

12. "What Ever Happened To Peace On Earth"
Edited on Fri Jan-02-04 03:00 AM by Alex88
"Willie Nelson, who has endorsed Dennis Kucinich for President, and who will lead a fundraising concert for Kucinich's campaign in Austin, Texas, on Jan. 3, 2004, wrote a new song on Christmas that he will perform in public for the first time at the Austin concert."

"There's so many things going on in the world
Babies dying
Mothers crying
How much oil is one human life worth
And what ever happened to peace on earth

We believe everything that they tell us
They're gonna' kill us
So we gotta' kill them first
But I remember a commandment
Thou shall not kill
How much is that soldier's life worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth

(Bridge)
And the bewildered herd is still believing
Everything we've been told from our birth
Hell they won't lie to me
Not on my own damn TV
But how much is a liar's word worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth

So I guess it's just
Do unto others before they do it to you
Let's just kill em' all and let God sort em' out
Is this what God wants us to do

(Repeat Bridge)
And the bewildered herd is still believing
Everything we've been told from our birth
Hell they won't lie to me
Not on my own damn TV
But how much is a liar's word worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth

Now you probably won't hear this on your radio
Probably not on your local TV
But if there's a time, and if you're ever so inclined
You can always hear it from me
How much is one picker's word worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth

But don't confuse caring for weakness
You can't put that label on me
The truth is my weapon of mass protection
And I believe truth sets you free

(Bridge)
And the bewildered herd is still believing
Everything we've been told from our birth
Hell they won't lie to me
Not on my own damn TV
But how much is a liar's word worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth"

17. Last night
a friend of mine brought a very similar article, I think he said it was the front page of USA Today, to my house. The Steps For Peace group is here and I had a bunch of folks over to meet them and talk peace and DK. This was a big topic for the first while. Everyone is so happy the Willie is out speaking up

18. Willie is such a damned good American he belongs on Mount Rushmore!
At a time when we need *more* artists to speak up and speak out, there's old Willie in the forefront...again.

He's gonna take heat for this, and I salute his bravery for taking a public stand.

May he be just one of many! :toast:

21. I plan to tune in tomorrow to hear him
sing it live for the first time.

And, along with that, here's another that I got in my inbox yesterday. Willie's "other" protest song. "Jimmy's Road." It gives me chills. You can watch and hear it here:
