A nice FR post on Rachel Corrie - what we are up against
Just a reminder for those of you who forget what is at stake in November 2004, a very nice post and responses (sarcasm) from Freepers regarding Rachel Corrie, who was bulldozed and killed earlier this year. Yes, that site - now the mainstream of the Republican Party (disagree? Check their worship of Bush) - has posters who, as reflected here, will no doubt be eager for the camps to open. Such warm-hearted individuals. I hate to link, but here's a wake up call.

2. not really
people that have even heard of Rachel Corrie can't be considered mainstream.

And in general, it's bad thinking to draw conclusions from Internet postings.

5. I agree
I mean there is something to be said for being aware that this attitude is out there; but to say that they are the Republican Party, on the basis that they fanatically support Bush is a step too far in my opinion.

8. Maybe you're right - Bush is a moderate, and DeLay is, too
And Cheney. And Rumsfeld. And their mouthpieces, Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity. And all of the past three years is just an illusion. Sorry. It may not have been true at one time, but it is now - the mainstream in the GOP is reflected in Free Republic. Bush will again run as a "compassionate conservative;" a "uniter not a divider;" and will govern from a far right position that will make his first term, and every other American presidency, pale in comparison to its radicalism. But, OK, show me the moderates. Olympia Snowe, et al, are so marginalized in their own party that they are blips on the radar. So, what is the GOP, if not what is on FR?

6. Not this time
The postings on FR generally reflect a far, far right agenda that is slavishly supportive of Bush (a few Buchananites get flamed from time to time). The point of this post is that the comments are reflective of the hard core Bush supporters. And nasty folks they are. In general, you are right about drawing conclusions from Internet postings, but here are, and have been, the mainstream Bush core supporters, in all their glory. Ignore them at your peril.

Funny how the GOP and the Bush-bots went from Jew-hating to "Israel Rules!" so quickly.

9. I rarely click on any links to Free Republic...
Don't need to upset myself by looking at that drek...

Being curious however, I was appalled and saddened to see the venomous hatred exhibited in that particular post.

People sending her family toy bulldozers, indeed! To paraphrase: have these people no decency??

10. "FR is more humane"
To: sweetliberty
There is no question at all that Free Republic is a much more humane site than DU. Conversational threads last much longer here, and people really attempt to grapple with complex issues and introduce new facts into the discussions to be considered. It always moves me when I see requests for prayers or advice, death announcements or other human issues. That stuff would be mocked on DU.

I think it is the FR tendency to see problems in terms of their consequences to human beings, instead of seeing them as ideological. That's why I get so angry when I see sympathy for a pampered college student who thought nothing of flying halfway across the world to protect murderers who are smuggling weapons between countries. In my opinion, the proper reaction to people like that is contempt and disgust, not sympathy. I wonder how many children and babies, to say nothing of soldiers, were murdered by Palestinian Arabs using weapons smuggled through the very tunnels that Rachel Corrie was protecting? I would like to ask her cousin why the lives of innocent Israelis and visitors to Israel are not worth a second thought, but the death of this criminal co-conspirator should become a worldwide concern.

At best, this is reckless endangerment of scores of human lives, and I believe that she could be convicted of felony murder for her actions. I have no sympathy for her or her craven family.

my how myopic these people are...

I guess every Palestinian man, woman, and child is a murdering terrorist?

at least according to FR, they are...

hmm, how would they feel about Palestinians aborting their fetuses?

13. Loonman, can you post on FR?
If so, may I suggest replying to this Piranha -- who wrote "It always moves me when I see requests for prayers or advice, death announcements or other human issues. That stuff would be mocked on DU." -- and add a few links to the very same type of threads that person is claiming we mock?

I confess I won't do it. I can't do it. I can't imagine reading anything on that site let alone posting there. My stomach is too weak.

16. That's one of the nicer posts
Yeah, too bad about her "craven family" that lost their daughter. You can just hear the joy and vitriol, evenly mixed, seeping out. And "Piranha" will have no sympathy, either, for those "traitors" who dare disagree with Our Lord, George W. Bush. "Felony murder" for a protest? Thanks for making my point about what's coming. Well, at least it's one Freeper who can spell.

Man, those guys are just mean-spirited!

Damn! I'm really saddened that these guys are reduced bitter shots at a young lady of strong convictions and high ideals who had the strength to work actively for something she believed in while bringing absolutely no harm to *anyone*!

I have a difficult time realizing that many of those posters could be my own neighbors or(God forbid) family-members. So much bitterness and lack of, well... just plain decency.

Just another day in America... sheesh!

17. I sometimes wonder
how people can become so hate-filled and angry. If it was just the Rachel Corrie thing I might be able to dismiss it as a fringe element, but I've been seeing this sick rage against humanity too often amongst hardcore Repubs and rightwingers -- I think there was also some of that FR attitude towards the earthquake disaster in Iran, wasn't there? I could be wrong, but it seems to be an attitude that is spreading out from the radical fringe, or at least I think it's perhaps somethng that's becoming tolerated by less radical righties.

18. Do they say the same things about Chinese activists killed by tanks?
Truly, the morons at FreekRepublic would have made WONDERFUL Nazis.

Tell them who their enemy is, and they kill them gleefully. One day it's the Chinese, the next day France, the next day Palestinians, the next day Iraqis.

#3 Well, she left, and our lives are a little richer for it.

What's the problem?

heh heh.

#5 Rachel's death is just natures way of weeding out the stupid.
It is unfortunate that nature could not speed up the process and slow down the Palestinian breeding.

#6 She made me smile --- when she got herself run over by a 'dozer.

#15 This vile slattern r.cory (ymach sh'mo) leaves a legacy of more hatred toward America, Jew-hatred, and truly acme level stoogery.
If I had the name of the man who operated the bulldozer, I would send him a cash grant for vermin reduction.

There's 170+ posts on this particular thread, many just as vile as the ones above.

21. Hey, look! The Freepers found this thread! Check this out!
And here's another warm and witty comment about it, and us (you know, us people who hate America merely because our nation and its ideals have been hijacked by the neo-cons and their ilk, and we love our country enough to stand up for it). Anyway, I'm flattered, and can do a better job of spelling "substantative" (sic):

Those idiots at DU have already linked onto this thread and are crying that we FReeps are so mean-spirited.

Hey Duers, let me fill you morons in on a few things. Rachel Corrie hated America, in a similar way that many of you do. The pics of her getting "run over" were highly suspect, seeing that we had several "before" pics and a few "after", but no "during", and the background of the pics were quite different from that of each other, making it unclear exactly what kind of propaghanda role was played in the whole incident. Bottom line is she sat down in front of a bulldozer, and guess what? That's right, nature took it's course and the big metal thing that weighed slightly more than she did won. Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

You want mean-spirited, read your own DU website. Such caring and compassionate comments your dorks make regarding Bush, his wife, Rush, Ann Coulter, and any other member of the Bush Administration or theright-wing that you dislike. It's ALL personal attacks with you idiots, and has nothing to do with policy whatsoever. You've been called the "Angry Left". Well, that's wrong. You're not angry, you're seething with hatred. Every damn candidate you have running has his whole campaign built on the foundation of "I hate Bush. Join me." There's nothing substantative about anything your dimwits do. You're all smoke and mirrors, you haven't got the beginning of knowledge in knowing how to organize, and you're drowning in your own hatred towards those whom you disagree and towards yourselves. That's right, you hate yourselves for being so damn stupid.

Grow the f**k up, you DU Morons (pardon the redundancy)!!
