The Fundamentalist Agenda
Hi All!

I've been gone for a while. Honestly, I think I just OD'd on Political Bullsh*t. Anyway, I wanted to share this article. I thought it would make for a good read, and good discussion, as well.

"The most famous definition of fundamentalism is H. L. Mencken's: a terrible, pervasive fear that someone, somewhere, is having fun. There's something to this. Fundamentalism is too fearful, too restrictive, too lacking in faith to provide a home for the human spirit to soar or for human societies to blossom.

But there are far more fundamental things to understand about fundamentalism..."

1. In the end
religion becomes more and more unrecognizeable, narrow and sick cult,
insane because what they really fear and put into the other "camp" is still very much a part of themselves. Particular enemeies, especially weak enemies or people to envy for their alarming peace and happiness with other beliefs", the mainstream orthodoxy in fact, can only be repessed with tyrannical powers. Those allies in fact are the very devils of human history, of mammon, war and slavery, that orthodoxy tries to temper.

In the end they become the Cathari. Perhaps some of their money messiahs and despots swallow the cult leader role into genuine fanaticism. Then the common people are really oppressed.

Yet those who led the Crusade to wipe out the Cathari strongholds were the pragmatic men of the world, the mainstream institutions and despots who realized the threat and that their noble counterparts had gone too far. The real powers of the "normal" world are still the main danger. Maybe there are different degrees of evil and madness. And not all fundamental adherents or principles are 100% nutty or bad outside the corruption of money and power.

The human condition and mind is a precarious place when overconfident
or dominant. That condition transcends creeds and labels and systems but few want to face it on its own terms of inadequacy and error.
