Krugman puts another target on his back
NYTimes columnist Paul Krugman offers a few rules of engagement for his fellow "journalists" in today's edition www.nytimes.com/2003/12/26/opinion/26KRUG.html?th relative to performance and professionalism during the upcoming election season. Common sense and fairness are on his bottom line. Two things republicans can't allow to occur if they are to win and two things today's "journalists" just can't seem to get.

Hats off to Paul Krugman who dares to fly in small airplanes. God bless him.

Drop the NYT a note and tell them to give Paul a raise (and a security detail).

2. "Common sense and fairness "
From conservatives? Talk about a foreign concept for them. Never see the light of day because those two concepts are so far from reality in Conservative Media. Krugman is a dreamer alright.

3. You are the greatest, Paul.
This morning on Washington Journal the host read this article and asked for comments. It was a replay. That guy is blatantly pro Whistle-ass; he lets Pugs ramble on and cuts Dems critical of Shrub off. That is why I seldom watch it.

4. I watch Washington Journal
every morning. The first 2 hours at least. Brian Lamb is probably the most fair of the half dozen hosts on the program.

He continues to take heat from conservatives for not slamming Clinton with every breath. He's beat up daily for backing Dean.

I don't think you should make blanket statements about a program that you admittedly 'seldom watch'.

6. Sorry. I Don't See The Bias Either
I see that stuff here about Lamb all the time, but i'm sorry, i just don't agree.

So, i'll back pmn on this one. Although, i don't know where the "back Dean" thing came from either.

The Professor

7. I disagree with this.
I don't find Lamb to be neutral.

In fact, I find CSPAN as a whole not to be so interested in neutrality. Before election fraud 2000, CSPAN used to break up callers by region. When 3 out of 4 calls were critical of Bush, they had to switch to party line calling. Not even during the Clinton years hysterics of the right wing did they do that. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

What this does is create the illusion that half of America likes Bush.

9. When they had regional
calling it was way out of balance. Because the west coast was still asleep.

I've been watching every day since an extended illness in 97. Back then there were Dems & Repubs. The Dem lines were full of 'used to be Dem now because of Clinton I've changed to Repub'.

When Bush was installed, the lines were still Dem & Repub but the Repubs still kept calling on the Dem lines. That's when they went to the Support / Oppose Bush format. And the Repubs have been crying since then. They keep whining that since Bush has 60+ 70 or higher popularity they should have that percentage of the calls answered.

Lamb is probably a conservative, he is a Hoosier after all. But, he is the most fair of the morning hosts. My wife detests Connie whatever name for her bias. I'm not to fond of Steve. And lately the crew cut dude has been chapping my butt.

But, I'll have to stick with C-Span as the most fair call in show around.

8. Lamb is hardly neutral
my apolitical husband called him a shill for Bush the other day. He noticed that Lamb cuts off liberal C-SPAN callers and allows even truly sicko conservatives ramble on about Clinton conspiracy theories.

Backing Dean my ass! :eyes:

a caller said that.

11. Brian most fair???!!!
ok.....ANyway--

did anyone see this morning? I missed the first few minutes. Did they announce in advance they would only allow RW nutjobs to talk to Mike Wolff or did they try to keep it a surprise?. I was counting, and Brian did not put on one single person who might have agreed with his viewpoints. And there were at least 2 "democrats" who said they voted for Bush. Thought that was especially bold...

12. Krugman is the antithesis of "holier-than-thou"
"I don't really expect my journalistic colleagues to follow these rules. No doubt I myself, in moments of weakness, will break one or more of them."

Humble. And classy.

13. Plain common sense
I don't see why this is a reason for particular excitement either way.
