Who did write this?
I've changed or replaced about 4 words.

"They despise our culture and learning, which they perceive as towering over their nomadic worldview. They fear our economic and social standards, which leave no room for their parasitic drives. They are the enemy of our domestic order, which has excluded their anarchistic tendencies.
(...)

It is fine with them, in fact it is part of their plan, that the USA in the process will lose a large part of its cultural values.
They must be called to account, and soon and thoroughly!

(...) Who is it that invents new plans of hatred and destruction against us every day, making this war into a dreadful case of self-mutilation and self-destruction of American life and its economy, education and culture?
(...)
They (...) organize murder and terror in the areas conquered.

The fact that the American nation was the first on earth to recognize this danger and expel it from its organism is proof of its healthy instincts. It therefore became the leader of a world struggle whose results will determine of fate and the future of the terrorists. We view with complete calm the wild tirades of hatred and revenge of terrorists throughout the world against us. They are only proof that we are on the right path. They cannot unsettle us. We gaze on them with sovereign contempt and remember that these outbursts of hate and revenge were everyday events for us in America until that fateful day when we started the war against terror, when the world revolution against the terrorists that threateend not only America, but all the other nations, began."

Hello from Germany,
Dirk

14. No, it was Goebbels originally
Though these days his body of work seems to be adapted by many, even around here.

2. Hi, Dirk.
I'd say the four words you changed were "USA" and "America." "They," of course, were the Jews in Germany under Hitler.

Not hard to recognize at all. Many of us here have seen, feared, and despised the similarities. Believe me, we are trying to stop and reverse the progression!

5. You're the winner....
but who is "Dolph" Billy_Pilgrim?
What might be not so amusing is that in this article, dated 21 January 1945, Goebbels makes his last(!) lengthy published attack on the Jews, whom he claims are responsible for the misery caused by the war.
This was written and published at the end of WWII.

The whole article can be found here:

I just hope, some day I will visit your wonderfull country again, without my fingerprints being taken.
I really love and admire so many people in the USA, not to mention DU, but this must be stopped. There are equal tendencies all over Europe, but what the Bush-Administration is about to do without any public rebellion is beyond what I thought would be possible. At least the civil society in the USA - as prooved by the existence of DU - seemed to be so strong.
Fear is a big big weapon,

9. Fear is a very big weapon.
And ignorance makes fear an even greater weapon. So very many people in this country are completely ignorant of what is really going on. Many struggle to earn a living and then turn on the TV to catch the headlines, which is about all the "news" they can handle. They believe what the TV newscasters tell them without even thinking about it. They are conditioned to accept it unquestioningly.

I'm constantly shocked and amazed by people I've known who are so completely unaware and ignorant. The willingness to be led blindly by such evil men as now direct our nation's affairs, to live in such denial and to rationalize it, truly frightens me.

Thank you, Dirk, for being a member of our DU community and sharing your insights. It's heartening to know that not everyone outside of the U.S. thinks Americans are all willing followers of this misadministration!

:hi:

12. Germany and Europe is as various as the USA....
And believe me, most people here, who were not anti-american before, aren't "anti-american" now.

And the people, who had resentments before, are just using the situation the US is facing now, to emphasize their resentments.

I'm far left and I belong to a minority in Germany - has to be said in the world we live in today - and for me, like other people, it's pretty hard to not fraternize with the wrong people.

This situation, at least it seems to me, is very complex: it is emphasizing old resentments of people, who always felt "occupied" by America.
They're coming out of their holes now and might sympathize, in a very absurd way, with the "enemies" of the USA. Ask Sigmund Freud, he knew a lot about this kind of feelings...

On the other hand, former left-wingers - "the baby-boomers" - who somehow have adapted themselves to the non-acceptable world, we live in, offend and reduce every kind of criticism against the USA and label it as being "anti-american". And often anti-americanism and antisemitism are not far apart.

At least the left intellecuals in Europe are in a way paralyzed.
You try to analyse a given situation, a sitation, you're facing know, but the ghosts of the past and the "connotations" of all these discussions are still fighting in your head.

If this sounds strange to you, it's my fault. It's really a bit complex, and my english isn't that complex, damn!

Liebe Grüsse anyway,
Dirk

3. It was effective then, and it is effective now. The question is

How many people will you hide in your basement when the time comes?

Some haven't, yet.

8. I revoke my decision...
both of you get the price. Sorry for thinking, it was Goebbels.
He would never talk of culture, values, freedom, economic standards. You know: all these foolish things, we're being hated for.

"The deceived nations of he Earth may still lack the knowledge they need, but we will bring it to them"

And I didn't even ask, what you want for christmas, this might become expensive for me....

13. I'll jump in here, on that one, Dirk. I want....
...that old tried and true chestnut that is jokingly thrown out there by people trying to be sarcastically 'cute' about selflessness and piety; the ONE thing you, nor any other person alive, can give us...........

...peace on Earth.

Barring that, I'll take a Food Saver vacuum pakaging machine (with extra rolls of pakaging wrap).

15. That first paragraph is pretty close to things Bush
has said. You know like, "They hate us for our freedoms", etc."
